Are the Republican senators proud of themselves yet? They’ve ripped the fabric of the nation in supporting a man who is worse that Nixon whom the R’s of that day would have convicted. The corruption of this administration has so damaged the rule of law that I begin to fear it is approaching irreversible.
Yes, and he was tricked into all the dirty dealing he did because as a naive babe-in-the-woods, how could he know what was happening? Why should he be held accountable?
It really is unbelievable that, here in the USA, people would elect a person as corrupt, stupid, and morally bankrupt as we have now. He surrounds himself with people who are just as corrupt and morally bankrupt as he is. They all have to either kiss his sorry ass or be replaced. Yet the dumb asses continue to support him. One day they will wake up (if the virus doesn’t take them out) and wonder “What happened?”
Actually, lying to Pence and the FBI is not the only thing he pled guilty to; he also admitted guilt to being an unregistered foreign agent for Turkey while serving as National Security Advisor o Trump – THIS is the American “hero” Trump is referring to in such glowing terms.
Just remember; the object is to get “them” out of the way (whoever “them” happen to be at any given moment). And such actions are cheered and applauded by “the base.” And the definition of them is elastic. First, it was all those illegal Hispanic immigrants. Then, it was those crafty bug-bearing Chinese. Blacks and gays aren’t there yet, but they are high on the list. After that, probably the intelligentsia who have that annoying habit of pointing out the Emperor has no clothes, then pushy non-compliant women, then Party members whose loyalty may have seemed “questionable” at times. Eventually, some segment of what was once “us” becomes one of “them.” Then another, then another, and so on. In other words, the pool of “them” tends to shrink as one after another is eliminated or neutralized. A cursory study of the rise of Nazi Germany gives a precise blueprint of how it works.
I wish the Republicans would finally become comfortable with their title of “Champions of Corruption”. It’s okay, Republicans. You can relax now. There’s no way anyone can eclipse you as more corrupt, more traitorous or worse for the nation.
The comments here give me hope that there are still many sane Americans who believe in justice. Then I remember the high courts are being packed with far right zealots and I worry for the future. How can corporate “rights” override the rights of “WE THE PEOPLE” enshrined in the constitution?
Of course he took the plea. His personal finances were destroyed by legal fees. Then the DoJ informed him that if he refused they were going to go after his son as well.
The revelations of the behavior of the FBI and DoJ should be prompting EVERYONE, conservative and liberal alike, to demand action against the players in this crime. Make no mistake, Flynn was the victim of a politically motivated false prosecution.
Many of you here are upset because a Trump crony is walking free. You care nothing for the grotesque abuse of power by law enforcement. The rule of law is conveniently ignored when the victim is one of your political opponents.
Wonder how I would fare lying to the FBI? Bet you the outcome would be much different. Pays to have the fat toad of injustice working for your fake tanned former boss.
