We have grown so used to having the Stone family with us that we can’t stand losing them. At the same time wish you all the best.

I came to strip comics far too late, and they all ended! Ah well, I have enjoyed Stone Soup hugely, so good luck Ms Eliot, and thank you. Stay safe.

Alix is one of my favorite characters as well, in all the comics, right up there with Agnes And her friend Trout…

Jan, you can give us a look 20 years in the future. We will spend our time trying to figure what happened to get to that point.

My Grade 4 teacher showed up at my office many, many years ago and somehow recognized me. She grasped both of my hands and, looking up at me (that was strange, since I had grown much taller than her since Grade 4), and told me I had been her favourite student. Obviously I returned the compliment, but, on reflection, I think she was. The school board had actually named a new school after her, so others must have had the same opinion.

I have loved your SS strip forever, will be odd not reading the fun of the family. Watch out Holly now wants in. Enjoy your retirement. Will really forever miss you. This is one of my favorite strips. I’ll miss it but at least we still have the classics.

I’m very late to joining this party…just as it is breaking up? I’m guessing I missed some dandy cartoons?

Sorry to see it end…but it’s great to go out with a giggle. And I admire Ms. Eliot for being respectful enough of her own work and her fans to know when the strip had run its course, rather than grinding out uninspired comics. That only leads to complaints and comparisons.

For me, this is a fond farewell to a favorite comic strip that combined wry humor with truly heartfelt moments: the series of strips when Holly lost one of a treasured pair earrings (a gift from Holly’s father) having “borrowed” them from Val, leading Val to conclude that the earring wasn’t really all that important; and Val’s terror when Phil is injured on the job (?) right before their wedding, and Joan holds her, quietly offering comfort and support were two of my favorite comics ever. Thanks for the gift of this strip, Ms. Eliot.

I, too, will really miss new Stone Soup comics. Part of me, though, is thankful that we have some advance notice, instead of just being slammed by the news unexpectedly.

Why will the strip go away? Just start it over again from the very first strip. It will be even more popular now, because you already have a fan base.

I hope that she releases a complete series like they did with Calvin and Hobbes

I’m so sorry to see this strip go, but I understand. Thank you, Jan, for giving us a gentle warning and time to grieve. I much prefer this to a sudden disappearance :)

Are there any plans to release your comic strip in a Hard Cover Book Collection, similar to what some other comic strip artists are doing. If so I would be very interested.

After 25 years, I’m pretty tired of deadlines, Alix. And … I think I’ve said all I have to say. – I can’t think of a better reason to step into something different. Good for her.

There was a time I was younger than Val and Joan. One day I realized that wasn’t the case anymore. Funny to think about age through the life of the comic strip! I too will read the classics. Love this family. <3
