Narcissus in Greek mythology is a man who was so beautiful and vain that Aphrodite (love goddess) cursed him to literally fall in love with himself. He ended up staring, entranced at his own reflection is a pond (sound familiar Marigold?) until, depending on what version you’ve heard, he either drowned or turned into a flower hanging over the water.
