The “Give Jar” is a sneaky con

At first glance just a trifle

Yet drop enough around the town

Soon through sweet bills you’ll rifle.

    Shaky restless on the lam

    Helps Quiver grab up cash

    Lay low with lovely Edison

    Decide best time to dash.

Yet all best plans by this dim bulb

    Soon sure to go awry

To lose the touch of Edison

Would make a grown man cry.

Good morning™, helpers of the poor!

Doherty and Reimer, of course, are the two most recent police liaisons and writers of the Crimestoppers feature.

Mike Curtis announced on Facebook last Monday: “Thanks to Walt Reimer, our Crimestopper specialist and police liansion. Starting in May, Walt will be doing Covina scam crimestoppers.” I’m afraid I don’t know what that means. He’s doing something in Covina, California? It’s not clear to me what.

    10-76 = en route

    10-20 = location

    10-12 = stand by (stop)

(according to general police 10 codes at https://copradar.com/tencodes/mgeneral.html)

Good morning™, numbers racketeers, cons and cops !

Shaky’s numbers are easy to comprehend, Tracy and cohorts not so much. The noose is tightening and Shaky doesn’t even have an inkling that it’s there.

If those “10 – codes” are supposed to be for quick, efficient communication, I really don’t see how they would be of any help in this particular situation. It almost seems that one could say “en-route to where you are” faster and easier than stumbling over a bunch of numbers.

This is incredibly stupid. Shaky should have simply hit his cousin for some traveling money and scrammed. Instead, he’s working a nickel-and-dime con with an “ARREST ME” sign on his back. I hope at least Edison hit the road. She seems to be a survivor, if not too choosy with companions.

I was joking when I wrote that he’d be going door-to-door for ciggie money but here it is more or less. What a comedown from extortion and attempted murder. MAYBE this is his attempt to show the judge that he’s slowly cleaning up his act! “I only scam loose change now judgey-wudgey” (tip of the hat to Curly there).

Riffin’ and Rattlin’ A Change Jar

1-JAY BOGART: Hey buddy. Wanna pickle? STORE GUY: 1) I can get all I want cause I work here 2) If you meant that as a dirty joke, I don’t swing that way AND I got my own pickle right here.

2-CUZ: Really? Wanted for attempted murder and you’re making cheap jokes?

JAY: It’s how I relieve the pressure of being a wanted felon. STORE GUY: Your jokes are criminally bad…

    3-Parked outside a Tim Horton’s near you

4-COP KNOWN AS THREE EYEBROWS FOR OBVIOUS REASONS: This is me Dispatch, requesting a wake-up call for, oh, let’s say 3:30. DISPATCH: OK. I mean, 10-4.

5-DT: This is Tracy, Dispatch. Be advised I’m stopping for PEN15. DISPATCH: You not only stole that from a TV show BUT you already made that joke elsewhere today. JUST SAY RESTROOM BREAK!

DT: Yeah but PENIS is kind of the theme we got going here.

DISPATCH: Fine, I’ll go with it. We just got a call from a Private Dick that Bogart is in your area. DT: I’m on it. DISPATCH:* I bet. Say. Bring me back some Spotted Dick from that English restaurant near your location.

DT: 10-4 and if 6 Was 9. That’s Jimi for Over and Out…

Shaky truly is dumb. he’s supposed to be hiding. does he think the entire police force is standing around tess’ bedside. instead he’s walking around going door to door for a nickel and dime scam.

I worked at a “Shop & Rob” that had a donation jar. The manager would raid it every time there was a cash shortage.

Mr. Wick; Perhaps you misread the article or it was a typo, but Mr. Reimer will probably be dealing with COVID 19, the Corona virus which is ravaging the word. Crooks will be crooks, and scammers are taking advantage of the pandemic, particularly preying on seniors. Read up a little. But on the upside, you know your police codes.

Speaking of “codes”… There are color codes : red, yellow, orange, blue, and green that are used by hospitals and EMS…

The Department of Homeland Security used color codes regarding terror threats…

It’s been said before, but I’ll say it again. Shaky is thick as a brick (and that is an insult to bricks everywhere). The idiot is out scamming nickels and dimes “for kitties and puppies” while the police dragnet is falling on his ugly head?! He got one bullet hole through him now; is he going for Best Fearless Fosdick Imitator? This guy and freedom are about to become estranged (as also he and the comely and delectable Edison Lighthouse)!
