I’ve occasionally wondered if, with the decline of printed newspapers, cartoonists ever tried to figure out other ways to monetize their talents. Apparently the idea has crossed Scott Hilburn’s mind more than once as well.
A couple of years ago, I was obligated to buy a raffle ticket from a high school kid, then was told they weren’t going to have the raffle till they sold 3000 raffle tickets. I wonder if they had the drawing yet.
I’ve learned that it takes a paragraph to be understood, but that most listeners and readers stop part way through the first sentence. What a waste of 15 credit hours of English and lit, except for my own fun, but the day was saved with my Elect. Engrg. degrees and 33.5 year career.

as the day drew on he was drawn to the drawing, but who knows what drew him, because he certainly wasn’t drawing on his wits…

Limited truth in advertising can still be quite misleading.

You can still do a raffle. Hang that at a fancy art gallery in New York and some sucker will pay big bucks for it!

He’s certainly not drawing on skill, for that.
