A long time ago I had a very large Saint Bernard named Ox. A very kind dog, who loved kids. We were out walking one day when a lady and her child were out in their yard and we stopped to talk. Ox of course went over to say hi and licked the child, who immediately started crying. The mom said “Susie what’s wrong? Ox didn’t bite you.” Susie, “No but he tasted me!!”

Beyond the strip when Lucy names Rerun I don’t recall any of his appearances, so even though these are from 1973 they are new to me.

In my head-canon, Rerun’s given name is “Leland.” Lucy, Linus, and Leland Van Pelt…
(There actually was a one-shot character named “Leland” at some point along the way, but I believe it was before Rerun showed up.)
