Haha, possibly, my friend. I still think prideful is a dreadful word; we have a perfectly good and well-known word — and that word is proud. I have never heard anyone use the word prideful before and I hope I never will again. :)

Just because a word is in the dictionary doesn’t automatically make its use good English. Come on, why on earth would anyone use prideful rather than proud in that sentence??
