Score one for Charlie Brown! Even if the testimonial dinner doesn’t turn out well, at least he has this moment.

I had to go back and reread the second panel. I thought she said “we’re going to invite you to a testimonial dinner”, not “we’re going to give you a testimonial dinner.” Either one would have been cause for him to smile given how often he’s invited to anything, let alone having something thrown for him.

When I was in school, I would get those Peanuts books and one of them had this story arc. I still remember how this ended.
