While the votes of our representatives are normally the business of the people; this is one case where a secret ballot should have been allowed. I wonder how it would go if secret ballots were allowed in both houses.
Brian Carroll: I am astonished that you created this comic almost in real time. It’s been less than 12 hours since the vote and here it is. I am in awe of you, sir.
We keep on treating impeachment as a legal process when it’s a political one. Senators won’t go through voir dire. They will vote depending on what they think is in their best interests. The evidence doesn’t matter, it’s a political call.
Of the three Dems that voted “nay”, I know one is Van Drew who already stated he’s switching parties. Does this mean the other two are also going to switch parties? They could’ve at least did what Justin Amash did and become an Independent to show their disagreement with the direction of their party. Instead they helped the GOP’s argument that they have bipartisan support in calling the impeachment articles a sham. Pelosi’s massive fail here.
From a strategic standpoint I agree with the one person abstaining. If the issue had been in doubt, I would have expected a ’yea" vote. With abstention, he may keep his seat in an otherwise red district. Let him cast votes that conflict with his district on matters where the outcome is in question.
I am continually amazed at the speed you produce these gems. Pulled an all-nighter, I guess. Well done, Sir! Although, I don’t quite fully agree with your position toward a declared Presidential Candidate (even though her campaign is a lost cause), IMHO.
Firtash paid Parnas who paid Kevin McCarthy and Mark Meadows. Mark Meadows is quitting. How far behind is Kevin McCarthy? It looks like all of their dirty secrets are spilling out.
Being a “Kevin” myself, I feel constant outrage that some other of the dang things are SO dang stupid. (Witness Pulitzer-prize winning pundit Maureen Dowd and HER idiot brother Kevin!) McCarthy, is I feel, a junior wannabe. The only question is if he is wishing to be a Gingrich or a McCarthy. (You know, the OTHER one!)
I wonder how many people remember that Ken Starr covered up rapes, same as Jim Jordan? Probably not many people, and NO people who voted for Trump. (Please leave what remains of your intelligence at the door.)
Read an article by Lawrence Tribe the other day that answers most of your questions. The gist of it is that the Senate sets its own rules and the Chief Justice presides but has none of the power that a judge normally exercises in a trial.
Okay all ye constitutional Legal Beagles: Riddle me this. Can Pelosi and the House Dems hold the Impeachment indefinitely and then send them over when it can do the most harm to Trump and the Repubs politically? Say for example when the Repub National convention is on or when the Presidential race is at it’s zenith. A 2-3 week “trial” in the Senate with Repubs openly denying obvious truthes, while the election is on could prove very embarrassing to Repubs trying to keep their seats. If this can indeed be done, my hat is off to Nancy Pelosi for some brilliant political maneuvering. After all, It has been acknowledged many times that impeachment is a political process. On the other hand, if Nancy can delay sending over the impeachment articles, does that mean Moscow Mitch can then pocket them until after the election? Whadaya say?
Hey, Bill, how about a disgruntled ego who’s about to lose her seat and go into oblivion? Some candidates just can’t accept that the presidency is out of reach!
Here’s hoping Brian Carroll is doing all right! We know he’s running for Congress, probably to be on Nancy’s team. In the meantime, many of us have come to see his spin on DC politics!

I think Rep. Gabbard has just “suspended” her campaign for the Democratic nomination.

Anyone doubting that Tulsi Gabbard is a Russian tool anymore? No?

Gabbard betrayed her constituents, and showed her true colors as being just like tRump. Only in it for herself.

So Dems need to stay in lockstep like the Republicans?
That just means the Republican Senate will acquit Trump of all charges.
Republicans will have a chance to dump troublesome Trump and install pious Pence, they should take it.

When I was watching this with my family, were gave a full salute when the present vote was cast. Full salute for this legend of a person.

Pelosi won’t pass the Articles of Impeachment to Moscow Mitch until he comes up with a fair trial and not a kangaroo court.
This anti-democratic silent coup the Republicans are leading must be ended.

This illustrates why we should abolish political parties: Independents are the only folks who can be trusted to do the right thing consistently.

Don’t know the deal with Brian right now.
I was sure he’d have had something pithy to say about how Republicans are now chomping at the bits as Donny starts the war he claims Obama wanted.
As a smokescreen to his impeachment.
As well as aid his re-election campaign, as well!
