It’s a good thing that was in the back yard and not the front.

What, you never had an experiment blow up in your face? And you call yourself a scientist! Hmpf!

    Golly, Alma.

    Experiments are experimental.

That’s why they call those things “test” tubes.

    Gordon was testing a theory….

and I think part of that theory,… or perhaps the subconscious part…

was that blowing up something small, even if it wasn’t the intended outcome of his experiment…

might release some of the pressure he’s feeling.

He loves you, Alma… have no doubt.

But three months in quarantine tests everybody…

especially his (or her) ability to put a positive spin on every …um…

endearing little quirk of those with whom he now interacts 24 hours a day.

Testing a few test tubes… is far better than testing his resolve, isn’t it?

And an explosion is the back yard is far better than an explosion of a different sort…

like maybe at the dinner table, when you mention his degree in science just one… more… time….

especially in reference to how much salt he just put on his potatoes.

Considering that that was a condom Gordon was testing; I’m impressed.

Driving a glass test-tube through a tree, unbroken, I’m impressed!

I think he was testing the glass that tube is made out of.

At least he had the good sense to do his test outside.

Perhaps he shouldn’t have named that area “The Trinity Site”…

All the Degrees in the World don’t really make anyone “Smart”. Being Educated and Intelligent are often completely different.

One of Gordon’s favorite quotes is from Thomas Edison: “I haven’t failed,I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
