When I was younger, my Mom taught me how to make lunch the night before so we wouldn’t have this problem in the mornings

If Michael can make himself breakfast — a bowl of milked Wheeto Poffs — (and can work at a hot dog stand) he can make himself lunch.

Buy your lunch at school, you worked during the summer so you should have some money on hand, right?

Yeah, easier to enjoy meals made by someone else than by yourself if you don’t have the knack for good foodies. I am one of those – lack of the knack, that is.

I know I’m gonna get sacked here, but at his age – mom should make his school lunch.

His condescension is incredible from the start – ‘Know what I want in my lunch?’ indeed, and then giving orders. If he’d asked politely with a genuine ‘please’ and gave even a modicum of assistance, she would no doubt have made him that nice lunch.

At the end of August I made a Great Gobs of Gopher Guts comment. After a little research, here’s the old Boy Scout lyrics from a better time:Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher gutsMutilated monkey meatHairy pickled piggy feetFrench fried eyeballs floating in some kerosene And me without a spoon.

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher gutsScab sandwich, puss on topVulture vomit, camel snotDeep dish boogers soaking in a bowl of fatAnd me without a spoon.

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher gutsParrot eyeballs dipped in gluePetrified porpoise pussFlaming ear wax bobbing in a bowl of barfAnd me without a spoon.

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher gutsDessicated dinosaur dungPercolated pelican poopTortoise turd balls with the little flies insideAnd me without a spoon.

Then apparently, Elizabeth can also do her own hair and Elly can stop parenting with the snarky looks. There will be a day when the kids are no longer home and she can’t do anything for her children to make them feel that their Mother cares for them.

I suppose sometimes, when we have to do it ourselves, we are satisfied with less than the minimum daily requirements.

Elizabeth started making her lunches a couple of years ago, after she whined about not liking cheese sandwiches. The first day she sulked around so much she wound up with a bunch of bananas.

Whatever the faults of the Pattersons, they are bearable to a degree. After all, we just got done with a story arc where Michael was stuck with a white trash family.

Lynn’s Comments: When I asked my son one day what he remembered most about his school days, he said, “the lunches you made!” What a compliment!

This comment is really funny. As you may recollect, Lynn Johnston has told us in previous Lynn’s Comments that she had a hired housekeeper/cook who made the lunches.

I was making my own school lunches when I started 6th grade. That way I always got what I wanted. Although I did kind of miss the surprise of finding what my Mom had packed for me.

My mother resented making my breakfast and lunch, so I started doing it myself. Then she resented that she was no longer “needed” and got in the way when I tried to prepare. Cannot win at all with some people.

Mom didn’t believe in letting children of either sex go out into the world without knowing how to cook, clean, and do laundry, and made sure my sister and I got plenty of practice.

My loving wife makes my lunch. Once in a while she makes the same thing I make … Peanut butter and jelly… ♥

My kids got no say in what was in their lunch. They also got the same lunch EVERY day, I got no complaints from them (they knew better.) . >:-D
