“…also, this episode was actually written, produced and aired in a world run by giant wombats.”

My favorite TZ parody will forever be one end-credits act of Futurama’s “The Scary Door,” glorious in its conciseness: “I have combined the DNA of the world’s most evil animals to make the most evil creature of them all!” “It turns out it’s man!”

The real surprise twist was that he didn’t know how to spell marsupialogist.

That was a great Twilight Zone episode-the hater of mankind wakes up to a world devoid of people…

I’ve heard that wombats have a unique, thickly calloused plate of skin that they present to would be burrow attackers. This ‘rump shield’ strategy would make them excellent candidates for careers in the civil service.

In fact, I could have swore that I recently saw one scurrying down the hall at my local DMV office.

I remember when this strip wasn’t always about giant wombats.

Excerpt from my poem parody, “The Night Before Wolfmas”:

“’Twas the night before Christmas, with church bells’ glad tones

But the wolf paid no heed, gnawing antelope bones

And gizzards of penguins and eyeballs of wombats

(He’d built up an appetite, winning those combats)"

For some reason or other, I’ve always liked wombats……..
