    Good morning™, sports fans!

That knife looks rather nasty. The sports writer is wearing his glasses, so I guess the gĺasses on the desk belonged to the guy who is tied up.

Back to our main story tomorrow?

Elsewhere, there’s a smoking man who’s taken grave offense

Remarks indeed did cross a line. For this there’s no defense.

“Here’s hoping that you’re comfortable and settled in that chair

The article is finished up. You should have taken care.”

The typewriter is silent now, hands free to wield a knife

The guest remains so silent in his time of deadly strife.

“To cross that line more than a fine. The cost it won’t be cheap

Said way too much, thus time to hush. A whirlwind ye shall reap.”

I writer who has lost his last nerve, straw broke the camel’s back, reached his limit and now to go all psycho knifer on critics. Slicing and cutting is very personal. I hope he knows how hard it is to get blood out of clothing. Dexter just wrapped everything in plastic.

I am guessing he will aim for either his fingers or tongue first.

“Darkling Dexter” a blood ballistic man in the police force who moonlights as a serial killer of serial killers. What his dad taught him to take that urge to kill and use it for good.

Good morning™, soon to meet their makers !

Will it be a quick kill or will there be prolonged suffering ?  Who would ever want to go to someone’s home whose work they are “slashing” ?  Mike lies in wait for L’il Timmy !

Reminds me of the end of the book version of Silence of the Lambs, where Hannibal finishes his letter to Clarice, then turns to a bound and gagged Dr. Chilton and says, Where shall we start?

Nice job yesterday – it made me think that the sportswriter was on the phone, despite there being no phone line shown. (Yes, he could be speaking on a smartphone, but the old-fashioned typewriter kept me from thinking that.) It’s also been mentioned that the glasses are probably from the bound guy, not the only guy we saw yesterday – another nice misdirection.

As I just finished reading The Phantom over at comicskingdom; This seemed to be perhaps DePaul vs. his critics.

Serrated knives are the worst (or the best if you’re the killer) because the serrations rip at the internals as you pull the blade out, causing even more damage.

If history is any guide, Joe & Mike will wrap up the entire Splitface storyline in five panels in tomorrow’s strip, probably with Tracy & Sam shooting out the tires on the stolen squad car & taking Splitface back into custody.

The knife looks similar to the knife from “Rambo: First Blood” and is described as a “sawback” hunting knife and is intended to saw through rope, etc.

Any staffer on a local newspaper with an online presence is no stranger to the slings and arrows from those who are courageous behind the anonymity of a keyboard.I once had the dubious pleasure of meeting face-to-face one of my self-appointed personal trolls. It was gratifying to see how that supreme wit became a cringing suck-up once he knew I knew who he was.

So, The Typist is a disgruntled sportswriter with thin skin for criticism and a sharp fixed-blade knife for exacting bloody revenge. Sportswriters sometimes have foul dispositions, but until now I have not known any to commit murder with a knife. Article is finished: kind of like a degraded modern anti-Cyrano de Bergerac….

It appears his hands could be tied behind his back as well as the rope going around his arms and shoulders. His feet are free and it looks like he is not attached to the chair. You would think he would be up and kicking unless he is drugged, indicated by the slumping. The knife is dry as yet and no appearance of bleeding. What’s the deal ?
