The red cap has become a symbol for gender biased, gun-toting racism, the other of gender equality and citizen’s rights. No wonder Kelley has to try to devalue it.
“It astonishes me that any students participating in a pro-life activity on behalf of their school and their Catholic faith could be wearing apparel sporting the slogans of a president who denigrates the lives of immigrants, refugees and people from countries that he describes with indecent words and haphazardly endangers with life-threatening policies.” • Bishop John Stowe
I was quite stupid as a kid, but a good education enlightened me about equal and human rights. The Catholic and many other religious based teaching encourage a feeling of superiority over others because they have the “right” religion. I hope for the sake of these kids, they can get past the need to proselytize and spread their religious ideologies.
That arrogant little twerp wouldn’t have survived 15 seconds with Fr. Diekman, our Disciplinarian (yeah, that was the title) at St. Francis de Sales, 50 years ago.
The pink hat is not tied to any political party—-the MAGA hat is—specifically to Donald Trump, who has been very disrespectful to women. Don’t pretend to be a religious protestor when you wear political hats to a rally
Oh my gawd! Nick S. could be MY son! If you have a son, make sure you buy him a phone and tell him to carry it at all times so if he sees an elderly Native American Vietnam era vet*, he can take a selfie showing his eyes shut and no smirk on his face. White teenage boys aren’t safe in America anymore. There is a war on white American teenage boys.(Paraphrasing Laura Loomer, Project Veritas “veteran”.)
*According to the US Department of Labor, the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (VEVRAA) states, "A Vietnam era veteran is a person who served on active duty anywhere in the world for a period of more than 180 days, any part of which occurred between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975, and was discharged or released with other than a dishonorable discharge.
Trump administration ‘rolling back women’s rights by 50 years’ by changing definitions of domestic violence and sexual assault‘I was massively surprised and really shocked. It’s quite scary how quietly it’s happened. It’s a massive step backwards. We have literally gone back to the 70s,’ says academic
In the beginning, the MAGA hat had multiple meanings and nuance. It could reasonably be argued that it was about foreign policy or tax cuts, social conservatism, the working class or a celebration of small-town life. But the definition has evolved. The rosy nostalgia has turned specious and rank. There’s nothing banal or benign about the hat, no matter its wearer’s intent. It was weaponized by the punch-throwing Trump rallygoers, the Charlottesville white supremacists, Trump’s nomination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Kanye West and proponents of the wall, the wall, the wall.
The hat has become a symbol of us vs. them, of exclusion and suspicion, of garrulous narcissism, of white male privilege, of violence and hate. For minorities and the disenfranchised, it can spark a kind of gut-level disgust that brings ancestral ghosts to the fore. And here, in 2019, their painful past is present.
The MAGA hat speaks to America’s greatness with lies of omission and contortion. To wear a MAGA hat is to wrap oneself in a Confederate flag. The look may be more modern and the fit more precise, but it’s just as woeful and ugly.
Whatever conservative point Kelley was trying to make was blurred by his his insertion of an imaginary ‘ranting’ feminist { which follows from Kelley’s 1950s biases }.
Yep. The mainstream media worked to get the full story but before that many bad assumptions were made about the encounter of the boy and the elder. Let’s be clear, the young man boy may have joined in the offensive behavior of his group but choosing to wear a MAGA cap is not offensive to a reasonable person.

Can someone tell me what is wrong with a pink hat with kitty ears?As for the red hat, it isn’t the hat, it is the mind set of the people wearing them.
