I love the little question mark over the bird’s head. Is it a chickadee? I can’t enlarge enough to tell. I’m glad reporters from other wildlife news outlets.—I think Squirrel News, Chipmunk News Bird News and Field Mouse news—are live on the scene. And the groundhog appears to be pretty laid back. I hope that means spring will be here sooner rather than later.
TOMMY!!! OMC there are more reporters!!! I love the little acorn hat, the mustache, Tommy rockin’ that cap. Lupin, darlin’ you’re being just a wee bit rude here! be more respectful of your friend who nurtured you when you were just a kitten.
Okay, I am gonna HAVE to show this to Mom when she wakes up this morning. With her family being from the Punxsutawney area, Groundhog Day as always been a Big Deal in my family, and Mom loves it when people remember that the holiday exists.
Attention all paws: Cuteness is reaching critical levels. Cat your battle stations! Assume arched back positions and hiss. Do not purr! Repeat, no not purr! This is not jokies, this is realzies!
Happy Caturday, orbsters and orbabies! It’s cloudy around here this morning so I doubt Wiarton Willie will see his shadow. I can never remember if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
And we get a Tommy fix this morning. He is such a happy boy.
I love groundhogs, they are so cute when they sit up and whistle! You can’t leave your house around here in warm weather without seeing at least a couple along the way. Last summer there was a huge fat fellow who visited my back yard a lot, there’s an overgrown jungle of a field that edges up to my land, providing him a quick hiding place if danger approaches.
Well, survived surgery, pathology said it was cancer, they “think” they got it all but state lots of CT scans in my future. Looks like Doctors now list everything that can go wrong, just like those TV drug commercials For becoming a “paperless” society we are sure generating a whole lot more paper. Imagine, you sign a multi copy form only to have it run thru a scanner, then all the paper thrown away. No point. Not when even that massive generator of paper, the real estate transaction is doing away with some by having a scanner for your signature.
Coffee, strong tea, hot cocoa maybe with powdered coffee mixed in — any of them are good ways to get through THIS year’s Groundhog Day!
In sadder news, one of my best friend’s two cats passed away on Thursday. It was 21 years old. But, as we all know, no matter how much time you get with your cat, it’s never long enough. She has a thirtysomething son who lives with her and takes care of the house for her (she has bad knees). The cat has been around since the son was in his teens. It’s on its way to be cremated at this time, and will henceforth be in an urn in her house.

Happy Lady Day to all and sundry. February 2 has always been a “cross quarter day” celebrated in the “Old Religion” in both it’s ancient and modern existences.
For those of the groundhog persuasion, may you have an early spring!

A Squirrel News Outside Broadcast event always comes across as ‘a corn’y one.

Pretty sure that proverb only applies if you happen to be Bill Murray.

Is CN providing camera feed to the SN and HN networks? I don’t see any squirrels with cameras out there.

I love Tommy’s winter ensemble. As always, the “one ear out” way he wears his hat is so rakish.

It’s been said that every dog has its day. In this case the groundhog has his day once a year. Make sure he is camera ready.
