Kind of reminds me back when the Dems took Congress during the Bush Administration and decided not to impeach. And when Bush left office and the Dems decided not to prosecute anyone because they wanted to “look forward.” Oh sure, the Dems will “investigate” the crap out of the Republicans in congressional hearings, but I’d be pretty surprised if anything actually comes of it.
Robert Reich no less is calling for it. “Procrastination”, as the poet Edward Young said, “is the thief of time”, to which one can add in Trump’s case, especially when dealing with a thief.
If the House, controlled by the Democratic Party, were to impeach *45 NOW, then the Republican controlled Senate would refuse to convict him. Then Trump would trumpet about how he’s “Totally Cleared of Any and ALL Wrongdoing FOREVER!!!!”
And we’d never get rid of him.
Wait until Mueller is finished with the investigation and THEN impeach.
I agree that the Senate would never convict him. That may change if they are convinced that he is unelectable, but they’re more likely to try to get him to resign. It wouldn’t surprise me if the big baby does so for “health issues” . The Democrats will probably regain control of the legislative and executive branches but the Supreme Court will be a huge problem for many years. We can hope that more true progressives get elected so the Democrats are not just Clinton and Obama regurgitated.
After days (weeks? months?) of strips defending Trump as having done nothing wrong, here’s a strip attacking the Democrats for not going after Trump hard enough. Ted doesn’t actually care about Trump; he just wants to hit the Democrats however he can.
Finally, a major U.S. government body is being led by someone definitively NOT under Putin’s thumb
Pelosi said impeachment of Bush was off the table and by not punishing the Repubs for their crimes, it set the stage for lawless liar Trump the incompetent.
One hopes she learned her lesson.

Impeachment is the last resort. If it’s done without a totally solid case which even a majority of Republicans have to accept, it could cause endless trouble afterwards. The partisan war would get even worse. On the other hand, if Mueller finds the Trump committed serious crimes, then there will be no alternative—unless Trump resigns, and I don’t see that happening.
The 116th House isn’t like your grandfather’s House. They’re young, they’re diverse, they’re quite pissed, and the Capo-in-Chief delights in taunting them. Yes, they’ll investigate the Capo’s corrupt administration and all the US Attorneys nationwide will likely have a field day when it comes to imprisoning & fining all the corrupt culprits; however, insofar as impeachment is concerned, it’s unlikely and wisely so: the U.S. Senate, firmly controlled by a corrupt GOP Leadershit and steeped as it is in the Capo’s corruption, McConnell’s corruption, and the corruption of all the so-called retired GOP Senators, will not remove the Capo-in-Chief regardless of how often the House impeaches him (which it can do repeatedly if it wishes to since there’s no such thing as double-jeopardy insofar as impeachment’s concerned). Given that insuperable hurdle, impeaching the Capo-in-Chief would be an utterly futile effort that would merely give the Capo more ink & video time. His benighted base THRIVES on such notoriety and it would be self-defeating. It’s much better to chip away at the corruption with which the Capo-in-Chief has knowingly surrounded himself, peeling back layer after layer of lies, mendacity, double-dealing, corruption, and overall swampiness that should eventually disgust all but the most dim-witted of his supporters. History will judge.
The main concern of the House Democrats now should be to think long term politics, prepare for Senate and House election 2020 (not get hung up on fighting over who will be President) and in the meantime limit the damage from Trump and his Senate. By all means wait for Mueller. Remember it takes 2/3s to convict in a Republican Senate. Impeachment only makes sense if there is so much evidence that we can hang failure to act on the Republicans and make them pay politically.

Look at the President of Vice – Trump’s insurance policy against impeachment or assassination.

Soon it will be Mueller Time. There could be tangible proof of something even Nancy won’t be able to ignore.

Unlike Ted, Nancy can count and she does not have 67 votes in the Senate. Yet.

Sadly, this could be all too true. Unless we the people get very, very angry and let Democrats know it’s time to get on with it!

But It wouldn’t get through the senate anyway. So what’s the point?
