Do you really need experience before giving advice? For example, do I need to jump off a cliff before telling others that it can be dangerous? Do I have to be seriously injured in a traffic accident to be allowed to tell others that they should drive carefully? There are a lot of things a person can know without personal experience.

I don’t remember who originally said it, but: A male gynecologist is like an auto mechanic who has never owned a car. (Personally, I have it in my records that I am to only have female gyns…but I have very good reasons.)
The really interesting difference is between marriage counselors who are married, marriage counselors who have never been married, and marriage counselors who are divorced.
ok… here a story about another “unmarried marriage counselor”: When my son was over 3 y old and still wearing diapers, my sister-in-law (who had a 7yo) lectured me that it is disgusting he still wears diapers, I should get rid of them etc. When I could put a word in her speech, I asked “how did you do it?”She turned to her husband, saying “t’was mostly the nanny, wasn’t it?”
