Be careful, Ralphie, I have an orange tabby that’s been known to eat squirrels.

If the world was flat, wouldn’t the Chinese or the Australians or someone be living on the other side?

Another comic that was a meme too, “if the earth was flat then cats would’ve knocked everything off by now”

Has anyone ever determined exactly where the edge of the earth is so we can go and throw our depleted uranium over the side?

As someone who shares a living space with feline-Americans, I fully appreciate this.Cats do not like “things on top of other things” (with the exception of themselves). They also like to conduct endless gravitational theory experiments. When they encounter said things, they they to get “nudged” to a lower vertical surface.

The contrary-to-fact/wish requires the subjunctive, not the indicative. Not “if the world was indeed flat,” but “if the world WERE indeed flat.” Is it wrong to call a writer for poor grammar or is it a writer’s responsibility to do his/her best to educated while entertaining? I’m particularly concerned of the effects poor writing has on students and pupils.
