I am shocked – shocked! – to find that gambling is going on in this strip!

Who will be picking up Tracy’s bread? Interesting to see how all this ties in!

Grimm doesn’t understand how gambling works.

Out of curiosity. did Grimm bet on races at Arlington? Because, You’re luck to find the results in the newspapers, much les broadcast. Ah, for the days of Phil Georgeoff “..here they come, spinning out of the turn…”

    @ Ray Toler:

    From Yesterday:

You said: Well, I doubt if the version of Tracy in the comic book would rush home to stuff a loaf in the oven while yelling Whoopie.

I absolutely agree with you there!

How to make a small fortune by gambling: Start with a large fortune and watch it get smaller.Gambling is a tax on stupidity. Do the maths; the House (or the bookie) always wins in the end.

Team Tracy tends to excel at location, so it is a shame Grimm’s bad fortune is not taking place at the Wilcox Downs racetrack (Arlington Park). We saw Chico Marx selling tootsie frootsie ice-cream there during the Tabby Angus story. Abbot and Costello put a bet on a long-shot.

Of course he lost if he didn’t catch the races…the kind of gambler every bookie loves, an easy mark. “I’ll trust my bookie, he’s so honest.”

Maybe Tess’ case is trying to figure out how Grimm’s horses didnt even show!

Does anyone have a diagram or flow chart pulling together all the storylines that they’ve currently got running? I’m starting to lose track of what’s going on!

So he bet all the money he had on horse races, and didn’t listen to the races to see if he won? AND he tells the bookie that and trusts his answer?

Soooo… Does Grimm now ring up the local loan shark for an advance on his next betting roll – or, worse, to replenish Sawtooth’s money from which he borrowed his betting stash? Talk about a degenerate gambler – who is about to have his miserable existence terminated…

Good afternoon™, leaving town losers !

I’d be out the door, in the next panel, where he will run into Sawtooth on his way in who wants to know, what’s the rush, and, “I need to count my stash to see how it stands”. Grimm is going to be a bigger smoked than the combined cloud of Smith, ex Moon gov and the Cuban detective guy all combined at once, in the same room.

Turned in a little early as I was running on fumes. These high daytime temps are leaving me a little bit flagging.

Grimm hardly sounds like a real horseplayer….if course the horses finished…just not where he wanted them to. He has one good play left…turn in Sawtooth, and save his own skin…

Wouldn’t Grimm have bet on one race at a time? Wouldn’t Grimm have something like an Internet connection or smartphone app to keep track of the results? As dull as today’s strip is, at least we’re not seeing Dick Tracy bake bread or carry on like a 9-year-old. What happened? Did Joe & Mike take some time off for the summer & turn the strip over to a couple of neighborhood kids?

It is looking grim for Grimm.

I would have said that earlier, but could not get into this site 10 hours ago (internal error 500 etc.).

This “playa” is doomed. If he has been dipping into Sawtooth’s stash, Sawtooth will kill him. If he has used up all his own money and is going to start using Sawtooth’s stash, Sawtooth will tear his neck out. If he tries to turn snitch on Sawtooth and is found out…well, you get the idea. Things are looking pretty grim for Grimm, no matter how you cut it. If he is the designated “Ernie’s” driver and begs mercy from the baker ratting out Sawtooth then and there, things could get really hot in the kitchen really fast if old steel teeth shows up….
