Further developments in our local cat news: a fourth fluffy person has joined Leila, Callie and Maya at our neighbors’ cat spa. The newcomer, as yet unidentified, recognized a good thing when she saw it and is settling in well. The original trio has decided that, previous experiences aside, humans make wonderful companions and need little training to provide all the necessities of life. There are rumors that Callie and the newcomer will be taken to the vet as soon as they can be coaxed into a carrier. This is not expected to change the growing sense of security all four cats have demonstrated recently.
That is indeed an “AHHHHHHHHH!!!” moment. I love how Elvis has that slightly bemused look you get when someone gets your attention then snaps the picture without giving you time to pose.
I can imagine in panel two that Elvis is suddenly thinking “aww … what? Oh no, my reputation!” – though we all know that he’s really just a big softie under that curmudgeonly front :)
BCN orbsters & readers! SOS bumps & prayers needed for a little black kitten! Showed up yesterday, 4-5 months old, scrawny & HUNGRY! I fed it, but catching is beyond my physical means & Hubby though he loves our Dusty, is scared of ferals!
Wouldn’t come to house; Dusty howled at the window & scared it!Please send best vibes possible so we can do the best by it as possible! Will feed it as long as it comes here, but want to give it a shot at a getting a good home. Our shelter is NOT no-kill, so I really don’t want that option, if at all possible!
My grandfather’s cat never met another cat through the windows. (He knew his “cousins” when they moved in along with the other human branch of the family.)
His outside friends were roadrunners. And “friends” is probably misleading.
Good morning and happy Caturday to all BCN orbsters and their orbabies. Special hugs, bumps and boops to everyone, especially Shaunnmunn in her efforts to catch the Little Black Kitty!
@Katzi428 — I believe that cats have two names, the one that humans give them and their true cat Name that they use between themselves. It is possible, although rare, for a human to be told a cat’s Name.
Hi Orbsters! I…have been gone for a couple months, and I wasn’t a huge commenter even before then, but just wanted to say I’m glad this community exists and am pleased to return to it. I do read all the comments every day, or did, until a couple months ago. My mom died suddenly in February, and things have been quite insane since. She lived in Massachusetts, while I’m in Oregon, but I’d been talking to her everyday since my Dad passed 3 years ago, at least an hour a day, often longer. Her death was a complete surprise, and I’m still at a loss every day at 3pm, when I’d call her.
Then, after a month in Massachusetts, I came home and needed to take Cimmerian, my 2nd eldest cat (almost 17), to the vet because he was walking funny, his back legs dragging. Turns out, it’s neuropathy from diabetes. And he’s lost quite a bit of weight. He might not need insulin—more tests this week will determine that—but now he gets a special diet that he’s not terribly fond of, but that the other 4 love, naturally, and he can’t have carbs, so the dry food the others eat has to be put away for most of the day. Nobody’s happy with this arrangement, especially me. But I could use an Orb bump or two, for morale boosting, if possible.

Tommy has his own CN mug! And we finally get to see his feline housemate. Kitties hanging out in open windows is definitely a sign of spring.

Even though the text message clearly says, “OMG,” I read it as “OMC.”

Thank goodness the Woman’s phone was resuscitated during the great “second breakfast caper” or we wouldn’t have this cute cats picture.

Of course Sophie’s relaxed. Tommy isn’t home right now, as he’s doing some on-the-scene reporting.

I just noticed, Tommy’s been out all this time without his new “leash” on life. I hope he didn’t pull a fast one on his people!

I like how Elvis was at first when he didn’t want Tommy to be in their backyard but now look at them!:3
