As a parent, I like the idea of my children being responsible enough to do their own laundry. However, when they are in my house, it is a lot easier to do everyone’s laundry all at once, because you avoid the whole business of “I can’t do laundry because so-and-so is hogging the machine.”

Time to move out. Then you’ll know beforehand to do it.

If she still lives with her parents, but they no longer do her laundry, wouldn’t that make her an “independent dependent”?

Hehe, Nancy’s response is absolutely perfect. Too bad Luann won’t learn a thing from this experience.

I think Luann’s job is only part time. To move out, she would need a roommate. Bernice? (too judgmental?). Tara? (too dangerous?).

Luann, if you can change a tire in the rain, then what’s stopping you from doing your own laundry inside a nice, dry clean house?

I think I would faint dead away if anyone in my family used the washing machine or dryer.

So Greg decided to forego the Mother’s Day strip this year?

    Or maybe he didn’t! :o)

    Ha!

One of these days you’re gonna be a momma, Lu. And karma may visit you in the form of a son or daughter who’ll think that having a messy room is some sort of “right of passage.” When that day comes, Don’t be Cross with him/her, and remember all those times YOUR room was a “train wreck.” Besides, I’m sure your husband, Jack won’t mind, being a bit of a Slob himself.

Happy Mothers Day, to ALL the Ladies out there, and to all the Guys that had to “fill the role.”

Luann is good at doing things for others, changing the tires on Jack’s truck, looking after Shannon. She holds down a job pretty responsibly. Still, she has trouble taking care of herself. But don’t we all.

I’ve commented this before, but Itaught my kids to use the washer and dryer around age 11, and they took turns doing family laundry. I have four kids, the oldest is 6 years older than the youngest, and I homeschooled. When the youngest was 15 or 16, she decided she wanted to do her own laundry (didn’t trust her siblings) so we went to everyone doing their own (except my husband). This solved the problem of clothes ending up in the wrong person’s bedroom.

Happy Mother’s Day all wonderful moms!! Nancy showing the kind of thinking Mom’s show when the kiddies are just about, or should be about leaving the nest. Luann is okay because she is still in school, but the just about part, definitely applies to her. Funny (lol).

I’m not totally sure what expression Greg was going for in that middle panel … shock? Surprise? Consternation? Looking at it closely, I am sensing just a smidge of pique.
