I love Opus’ pig … er, SPOCK ears. LOL!

I guess they didn’t forsee the day when most of us would be reading the comics online.

“Bones, you’ve got to find me an antidote for shrinking comics syndrome.”

“Damn it, Jim, I’m a doctor, not an editor!”

And it’s still true. Shrinking comics killed the comeback of Pogo. And I’d hate to see Wallace the Brave in the newspaper! All that great artwork would be gone.

“Shrinking comics”? I don’t get it. You just change your page settings to zoom in if they’re too small. Is this some kind of 20th century gag that only old people get? Boomers!

It’s not just the comics that have shrunk.

Bought a tablet a few months ago and I mostly use it to read comics

Love being able to expand comics, like this one, even with reading glasses this would have been hard to read on my desktop

Why is this relegated to the comics? It is all absolutely true.

Of course, newspapers themselves have been shrinking, and many have disappeared, as others will….

Doonesbury’s still an exception. Most comics, especially at gocomics, are too small to read on many screens, and if you try to enlarge the window, it quickly produces ads, then side panels with ads, then ads in all three columns, with the comic not getting much bigger. With Doonesbury, if you click on the comic, it appears as a full-width popup, which stays full width as you widen the window, making it legible to more people with vision problems.

Unfortunately the shrinking has continued. Is Doonesbury even relevant anymore?

When this was first run, we had NO idea that physical newspapers would be almost gone by September 2020…

At least the Internet has saved the comics, but NOT ridded it of the advertising!

Answer: nope. We will never learn.

I only get the newspaper to read this Sunday comics. Once Prince Valiant is on comics.com my newspaper is gone.

I guess we didn’t!

Most of them are gone from the newspaper anyway.
