I remember a bunch of the original SNL members doing Coffee Achievers commercials. I always thought it was a joke.

If Opus wants to do some moving and shaking, he should try my Nuclear coffee

I vaguely remember those ads. (According to wiki, the campaign was a response to 20 years of declining coffee consumption.) I don’t remember the phrase “coffee achievers,” but I do remember them always saying that coffee “…gives you the serenity to dream it and the vitality to do it” and that it “…picks you up and never lets you down.”

I remember the latter phrase because it is used by the protagonist in the movie Summer Rental to justify his coffee drinking – to which his wife responds “It also gives you heartburn and fattens your adrenals” as she takes his cup away.

Seriously.

And this strip predated Starbucks taking over the world. Who knew Breathed was so prescient?

Wanna moderate that overachiever mode? Make it an Irish coffee. A shot or two of Bushmills in that mug would calm you right down!

Much of the Enlightenment period, Newton, Liebniz Hooke, et al, has been attributed to the arrival of coffee in Europe. Before then, people had just boozed all day, beer for breakfast etc.

The magically shapeshifting bar brought Opus and Steve closer together

The answer is Irish Coffee. Hold the sugar and cream.

Coffee is, generally speaking, a good thing. But I’ll have mine with cream and sugar, thank you…..
