He talks about how people shouldn’t judge others, how people should forgive others, and he was a teacher. All considered bad things by today’s “Good Christian” standards.

Main stream Christianity kicked Jesus to the curb ages ago and now worship money and power.

Hell, Jesus wasn’t white, so he would have to go to another church closer to downtown.

I hear that she wasn’t a prostitute but early church didn’t like her because she was a woman so they slandered her. I can believe it, many Christians today are the same dooshes.

    A Very, Very Sad Story

Many centuries ago there was a man named Abraham who heard a voice in his head telling him to murder his son and burn his body. Before he could complete this foul and loathsome deed the voice told him to substitute a sheep instead and when he did the voice told him to tell all his neighbors to worship the voice in his head as a “supreme being”. Abraham (or Psycho Abe as we should correctly think of him) did this and his neighbors, rather than locking him up as a dangerous lunatic began to worship the voice in Abraham’s head. They were primitive, uneducated, and superstitious themselves and practiced blood sacrifices to try to gain favor from unseen “gods” and knew nothing of the world outside their provincial lives which were short, disease ridden, and terrifying. Eventually 3 religions resulted from Psycho Abe’s madness and for centuries followers have been hating and slaughtering each other in the name of the voice in Psycho Abe’s head. Today if we heard this story of child abuse and/or murder it would either be part of an insanity plea in a courtroom or on an admission sheet at a locked Psych ward. Nevertheless, defenseless little children are forced (by violence if necessary) by their parents to see this story as something “holy” and as evidence of the “divinity” of the voice in Psycho Abe’s head. So here we are in the 21st century and millions still worship the voice in Psycho Abe’s head and as a result of this, despite all the wonderful achievements of humankind since then the hate and slaughter go on, especially in the ironically named “Holy Land” and we stand on the verge of the annihilation of the human race.

And that is a very, very sad story.

Do you still worship the voice in the head of this primitive being?

StCleve: What a lovely tale! Sheds a new light on the old story. I will now proceed to giggle whenever god is mentioned in church.

Perhaps the worst kind of bigot is the one who mis-uses their religion to justify it.

It is very clear however that Mary Magdalene was of great importance in history due to her being the one person who was both witness to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, and was also a primary financial supporter of Jesus’s journeys and campaign.

This leads us to a whole other perspective of Mary Magdalene as a wealthy benefactress, you could even call her Jesus’s sugar-mama.

Many scholars believe that Mary Magdalene was a high priestess studied in the Ancient Egyptian alchemical practices, as was Jesus, and that she was a spiritual leader that was his equal and the primary person to carry on his teachings as he desired after his death. She escaped after the crucifixion to the South of France, where to this day in Provence there are numerous shrines and sacred sites dedicated to her.

And our great Founder, Thomas Jefferson, wrote a version of the Gospels WITHOUT the miracles. Some good Christian he was!

Guys, read the bible, it says Jesus hates FIGS, and to love thy neighbor. There are LGBT youth across the world who are taking their lives at an alarming rate because of these messages that make them feel broken or less than. We have to meet intolerance with compassion. To our LGBT youth: You are loved, valued, supported and beautiful. There is nothing wrong with you, and we will stand by you. You are not alone.

1965 was an interesting year regarding Jesus, one friend we met in North Beach, San Francisco, was gay and pointed out Jesus got all those guys to abandon their wives and families, to follow and love him, even to die for him. Another friend from Kenya had his portrait of black Jesus on the wall, next to his portrait of JFK sent out by our State Dept. tinted to show him as also very black.

Myths and misperceptions are common sales tools to gather the gullible.

Religions and politics both change for convenience of the times, like greedy “Christians”, and greed-fed Republicans are timely today. Maybe Mary Magdalene’s social postion and “profession” are appropriate for treatment of today’s “middle class” Americans?(of faith)

Bigotry is always evil, of course, but it is also really really really STUPID. Which is why I’ve never been sure if I should despise bigots for being evil or for being stupid…..

He doesn’t need to carry that cross around. Lots of churches have life-size crucifixes out on their lawns. They’re already ready, just in case Jesus comes back.

Remember, the Bible was used to justify slavery, war, subjugation of women, etc.And one of Paul’s letters starts off by naming a woman, and saying I commend these to you as teachers! (paraphrase)
