Being selfless, Tiffany, is a good thing. (Good luck, you two, on executing that plan.)

Yes, Tiff, it is good. It’s the opposite of selfish.☺I’m beginning to like Tiffany.

The only thing that would distract Piro is a silent movie with actors wearing scarves. Let’s see Tiff do THAT.

-Two complications here.

One is that everyone is assuming that Piro is actually paying attention in some way to all of the expectations that others have for him, and we’ve seen little that would lead to that conclusion. If his main occupation at this point in life is finding a place to crash each night, he may not only unaware that Bernice is interested, he may also be unfazed by Tiffany’s attempt to attract him.

The second complication? Is Tiffany really as selfless as she wants Gunther to believe, or is this a new way for her to use in trying to attract Gunther?

when things start to heat up with Gunther and Tiff we will switch to Les and Mr. Gray for 13 weeks.

Tiff is assuming that the bum can be distracted, and that Gunther will actually move on Bernice. He hasn’t even told Bermice he is interested in her yet!

What an excellent idea! Gunther and Bernice become an item and like a black hole, suck all positive energy out of their surroundings – to the point that no one ever interacts with them or even mentions them. Even Team Evans’ will find it impossible to draw them. Yes! Let this terrible national nightmare be over as soon as possible!! (Is Monday too soon?)

And his beard stayed in place!!

Another build up for romance and ………..nothing. Lucy pulls the football away from Charlie Brown again. Come on, do all story lines have to end in disappointment? Is panel 4 the big embrace………holding one of her hands? This is grade school stuff.

Maybe Piro is gay and secretly interested in Gunther?

Tiffany says she will DISTRACT Piro, not attract him. There is the possibility that they know each other well enough by now that she might offer a haircut or some other things she already knows coukd interest Piro, or perhaps ask a favor or two of him. There are many ways to distract people.

I still suspect that at some point Tiff and Gunther will see if dating works for them, but i think they might have to go the long way to get to that point.

“AND, I bet his hyperhidrosis did not kick in.”So, you remember that term. He had a nice solution for it too, in one of his best scenes with Rosa. (And forgive me, shouldn’t the “i” be a"y"?)

Still think Tiff and Gunth would be great together – he could help her smarten up, and she could help him loosen up!!

If this actually looked like it was going somewhere, the Evanses will, as someone pointed out, at once switch to another never-to-be-resolved plot story. Piro is what the TV Tropes and Idioms site calls a MacGuffin. “In fiction, a MacGuffin (sometimes McGuffin or maguffin) is a plot device in the form of some goal, desired object, or other motivator that the protagonist pursues, often with little or no narrative explanation. The specific nature of a MacGuffin is typically unimportant to the overall plot.”That’s all Piro is, or ever will be.

Well, that sure turned around quickly… Is Tiff really trying to help him out of selflessness? Is she hurting inside, knowing that Gunth has pretty much shown a complete lack of interest? And most of all, a couple mins ago (in Luann time), he was all hot and bothered by her, yet, he shut it off as if he had a light switch! (He didn’t even need a cold shower!)

I’ve always hated Tiff… that is getting harder to do, lately!

I like the way Tiffany is becoming more likeable.

I do something similar at Andy Capp… I take their lamest strips and give them the style that creator Reg Smythe had… and hopefully, make them funny!

Perhaps Tiffany is being selfless because Gunther is the first guy who hasn’t tried to screw her, and she never had a real friend!

:Lure Bernice away from Piro"???-Piro has shown absolutely no interest in Bernice. In fact, unless she’s standing in front of him talking, I’m not sure he’s even aware of her existence.-The only thing Bernice will have to be “lured away from” is the fantasy she’s built up in her head concerning herself and Piro. And good luck with that!

Tiffany said to Gunther, “Just to see you happy.”. That was touching. Gunth & Tiff are two lonely souls – which is why everybody wanted to see them connect. Of course their plan involving Piro and Berneice sucks. It sounds like something TJ would come up with. My guess is that at some point, Piro will disappear as mysteriously as he arrived. And Gunther & Berneice – I don’t see it. For one thing, Gunther doesn’t even know when someone’s being snarky.

Tiff really should reverse her decision to be selfless and tell Gunther than she’s having feelings for him.

More lessons in selflessness will lessen the mores of selfishness…more or less…

Wonder if Tiffany is thinking that Bernice would know that somethings up, if they tried it? Or if she would assume that Tiffany wouldn’t think anything like this? Or would Tiffany think that Bern would think that Tiffany could think of something like this… or would Bern think that Tiffany would think Piro would think that Bern thinks of Gunther, if Gunther thinks Tiffany thinks that Bern thinks that Piro….uh, never mind…

What if Piro suddenly does go for Tiffany! After Berneice pays no real attention to Gunther, Gunth might get the devastating revalation that he coulda had a real girlfriend. Too bad – but Gunther pretty much deserves what he gets (or doesn’t get).

Any way it works out, Bernice will know where she stands with Piro and Gunther will know where he stands with Bernice.

Glad to see Tiffany finally growing up

In all the the years I’ve known Tiffany, she’s gone from being air-headed to level-headed.

Tiff seems to be growing up. I never dislike her because I knew she was just being a kid, but now I like her more.

I think it’s even more selfless than he’s aware.

OK, disappointed that this is going to be stretched out further, and that we probably won’t see these two again for a month or more. But I imagine that Gunther will eventually figure out that he’s pursuing the wrong girl. In the meantime, Tiff, if you want to distract Piro, show him your sofa. Works everytime.

He’s not in love with Bern.

He thinks Bernice is an easy target because shes the girl no one looks at. But Bern and him are both the same kind of person. So it would not work. Whatta fool! And a grown up Paris makes for nice arm candy. If only Crystal was there to see it. She would not believe it either.

The danger in this noble plan is that Tiffany in the process may become actually interested in Piro. That would be unfortunate. Best outcome is that Tiff and Gunny finally get together. They would be (are) a sweet couple….

And just WHAT is the Big Deal with Bernice, anyway? The ONLY thing You two have in common is that You’re both Smart. But Gunther, SHE is also Possessive AND Paranoid! Do You really want to spend the REST of Your Life Having Her Accuse YOU of Thinking More of Your laptop than You Do of Her?? There’s a REASON why Her last VICTIM, uh I’m Sorry, ‘boyfriend,’ Zane is not around anymore. And it was NOT due to lack of Fan Popularity.

I like the evolution of Tiff from a vane and shallow creature into a young woman with some depth and feelings.

and Gunther doesn’t see that the good feelings Paris has now were thought to her by him. They make a real good couple.

How can Tiff “distract” Piro from Bernice when he isn’t (apparently) “attracted” to her in the first place? So this sets up something else probably.What happens when Gunther sees Tiffany trying to flirt with Piro? hmmmmm.

Isn’t this like a page from every sitcom ever. Beginning (although probably older on the radio) with “I Love Lucy.”

I appreciate Tiff’s good posture. (No really, that says a lot about someone’s character…) I think she has mixed motivations for her “distraction” strategy. I wish Piro would open his eyes now and then (literally), and say something significant; not be such a clam. I wish Luanne and Bernice would have a < real > adventure in NYC. And I hope Gunther does serious yoga (like upward dogs) and straightens up and shows some self confidence! Maybe with a torrid coming out with Piro, a bright & gay relationship? Whoa, that’d rattle some readers! :-D And Les? All kinds of interesting back story possible there. Maybe his mom’s a stripper with a heart of gold. Tally Ho, Gregg!

Makes better plot lines for the comic, and could easily be Tiffany’s plot to get Gunther.

Continuing with a variant of Bernice’s plan isn’t “selfless”, it’s…Oh, what’s the euphemism I want here?.

Seems to me that this week’s worth of strips were a very impressive fuse with no fireworks at the end of it. And this new plan of theirs has kind of a Three’s Company vibe to it.

Gunther and Tiffany! Go Go Go!

I think Gunther and Bernice could be intellectual equals; however, if Tiffany is becoming altruistic, then Gunther needs to see that having a best friend/pal for a loving mate is perfect. We are 54 years in May.

Gunther is so blind to everything, especially to what is right in front of him.

What exactly does it mean when a woman cares about a guy’s happiness more than her own?

A woman’s love for a man is the greatest gift of his life. The right thing to do is accept it and treat it with the respect it deserves.

Gunther needs a good Gibbs slap to the back of the head. How in the world did Gunther’s mother raise such a social maladroit? That part makes no sense whatsoever.

Meanwhile, what about Piro’s feelings in all of this?

This whole story arc is a scramble of mischaracterization.

Sheriff*Last Dec. you told us to “fasten our seatbelts” for the wild ride ahead. And you were right! This season’s stories have been unexpected, controversial, and fun. Thank Team Evans for us, please!

I think at this moment Bernice has gotten the message that she’s no one special in Piro’s eyes. After she has gotten over that Gunther would have an open shot for her. HOWEVER, I think Gunther is seeing Tiffany in a new light and likes what he sees.

I love how Tiffany is being a good friend to Gunther. Great character development!

I’m not sure this will work and I suspect Tiffany knows it. First, I think Piro is his own person. Second, if one is obsessively in love with another, it isn’t that easy to transfer your emotions to someone else, even if the person you want isn’t available. I suspect Tiffany instinctively knows these things and she is willing to wait for Gunther.

Tiffany and Gunther deserve a chance to be together. These depressing, dead end relationships have become Greg’s style.

So, how long before these two realize they should really hook up with each other?

p.s. Selfless acts aside, their plan is still stupid.

How many ways this scheme make no sense, at least from Gunther’s point of view?.“Distract Piro”? Distract him from what? He’s shown no interest in Bernice..If Tiff WERE to gain Piro’s attention, Bernice wouldn’t lose interest in Piro; on the contrary, Bern would get even more obsessed, and certainly wouldn’t be open to any overtures from Gunther. If Tiff is half the hottie everyone claims she is, she knows that full well..Nothing about this scheme is going to help cure Gunther’s passivity and shyness..Sounds like Tiff is up to her old tricks, like the firefighters’ meals scam. She gets to play around with the guy she thinks is “kinda cute and sexy”, while setting up both Bern and Gunth for romantic messes..Of course, the Evanses can make anything happen (or not happen) that they want to. Even if it makes no sense

Gunther’s either an idiot or gay. first he goes to Peru with a woman for all the wrong reasons, and now h’s knocking himself out trying to get with a woman for whom he does absolutely nothing. While on the other hand, apparently Tiffany is attracted to him , but he’s to blind or dumb to see it..

And you know who I predict will be the one that get’s hurt here? Tiffany. Funny but I’m finding I have more sympathy for Tiffany and less and less for the other characters, in no particular order, luann. quill, brad, toni, and none for Bernice.

That could be as simple as him being older and finding younger people a tad boring. I certainly have seen that in the general age bracket.

What i am wondering more right now is if the tangle will resolve gradually or dramatically with a logical surprise. Personally, i suspect the latter and there are multiple possibilities, plus there are bound to be some we do not have enough info to yet suspect.

She did not know she already fall for Gunther, that is the change…

Yuck. Instead of Gunther and Bernice telling the objects of their affections how they feel, they try to manipulate the mind and behaviors of the people they are interested in. This is selfish behavior on their parts. I do mean “objects” because they each see that person as a thing they want to behave in a in a certain way.

Imagined control of other people makes for unhealthy relationships (friendships). It only causes bad behavior and frustration, anger and resentment. Sick.
