My church runs the gamut. Some come dressed up (I tend to fall under this category) and some are in concert tees & tattoos. Even our pastor: some days he wears a tie; others, a casual polo shirt.
An accurate depiction of how people dress in public these days. Whatever happened to taking pride in ones appearance? Self-dignity? I’m not suggesting formal wear for every occasion, but at least show some decency. The latest trend seems to be hippie hair and beards on men. What’s up with that? This is 2018, not 1968.
What really bothers me is seeing really grubby clothes on people when we go to a special family occasion such as a wedding or a funeral. I’ve seen people in shorts and tees and flip-flops at a funeral. It’s as if they were cutting grass and then realized that they should “make an appearance”… I think it is just gross. Still I keep my thoughts to myself and I’m glad the topic arose and I can vent here, at least…
I think you should dress nicely but comfortably. I remember a woman telling me she wore uncomfortable clothes on purpose because she felt that honoured the Lord. How? What good is it if you’re wishing the pastor would hurry up and finish because you want to get home and get those uncomfortable clothes off? Dress comfortably, but don’t wear slovenly junk you wear around the house when you want to relax.
You don’t need to dress up for church. Only our pastor does that, but wearing a bikini? Wear clothes that doesn’t make anyone feel even warmer. The Keene family looks fine. Simply LOVE Jeri’s dress. It’s so her. And those heeled sandals.

Reminds me of the 1940 through the 1950s when you put on your Sunday best to fly commercial airlines.

So do what I did when I was seven (7), stop going. Better things to do anyway. Even homework. Math homework.

I wonder how many churches will have this one on their bulletin board.

I’ve been to funerals where people were dressed like that.

At least the two girls at the far right of the panel are ready to be baptized, if they haven’t been already.

Norms are relaxed else the attendance diminishes.

There was a time when appearance was considered more important than sincerity.
Oh, wait, did I say “was”?
