Look at the weight of the customers lining up for lunch. Nothing subtle here.

Wylie the vegetarian is directly connecting obesity to ’Meaty’s’ All American Food (meaning burgers, probably). He’s even showing that the food truck is offering a free defibrillation to anyone having a heart attack while snarfing down that All American food, and parking an ambulance nearby. (Kind of like having the ambulance on standby at a boxing match.)

Coincidence that this ’toon is running right before July 4, a day when Americans typically chow down on burgers grilled in the backyard…

forklift… I was in the clinic on an exam table, and the ambulance guys wheeled in the gurney to take me away. They saw me, 320 lbs, and were quite relieved when I could slide myself from one to the other.(That was from my bleeding ulcer: all better now!)

Everyone knows about the heart attack grill right?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_Attack_Grill

I’ve known people like this, who proudly flaunt their bad habits and regressive attitudes, one in particular who bragged that he was going to smoke cigarettes and eat whatever he liked, it was his life and nobody was going to tell him what to do! He took 3 years to die painfully after his esophagus was removed, put his family through the worst misery and torture not to mention the medical bills. Selfish bastard. Seems to me if we love and are loved, the responsible thing to do is to try to be as healthy as we can be for their sake and ours.

People have falsely learned through tv shows that defibrillators will bring you back if your heart stops. Defibrillators actually stop your heart allowing it to reset itself if it goes into a bad rhythm.

I thought defibrillators are torture devices in case you tell a lie, or “fib.”

Life is a balance between what makes it worth living and what keeps you alive. If I ate only the ideal healthy diet, death couldn’t come soon enough. Of course you can’t know the ideal healthy diet because they change the rules every 5 years.

Oh, and the most overweight person I know is a vegetarian and has been for over 30 years.

    I believe in avoiding excess.

Good point Wiley. If it is not meat it, is un-American.If you aren’t a meat eater , you’re destined to be dinner.

Servicing/feeding the deaf and blind. Probably too late now for a de-fib. Never caring or seeing what hit them.

Meat and cheese may be as bad for you as smoking…those who ate the animal-protein heavy diet fared way, way worse than others: They were 74% more likely to die early than those who followed a low-protein diet.http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/03/140304125639.htm

A vegetarian diet can be but isn’t necessarily healthy, especially for diabetics. It tends to have way too many carbohydrates in it, especially if you overeat. The key to eating in a healthy manner is to eat sensibly – small meals that get smaller the later in the day, always small portions, and a balance of nutrients. Watch out for carbs if you’re diabetic, especially carbs from flour, table sugar, or corn syrup. Cutting out meat doesn’t help. In fact, lean meat is quite good for a diabetic.

This is SO funny (in a dark sort of way), but a really good idea. I’ve seen some of the folks enjoying Food Truck lunches; moderation is not in their vocabulary.

“…….He took 3 years to die painfully after his esophagus was removed, put his family through the worst misery and torture not to mention the medical bills.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Quitting smoking is truly difficult to do.I don’t know how many times I tried without success. But I kept trying, and finally I did it — thirteen years ago. My eldest daughter smokes and I bite my tongue all the time. But I couldn’t resist copying and pasting your comment into an email that I’ve sent to her. I don’t expect it will make a difference, but I HAD to TRY.

A customer had a heart attack at a Red Robin in my home town. The restaurant had two defibrillators, but they weren’t needed.A team of paramedics were there getting take-out, and a nurse was among the other customers. If there was ever a good time for a heart attack, that was it. God had decided, that guy was not going to die that day.

Until I read the comments, I didn’t realize this cartoon was political.I thought it was all about being careful with our diets. My problem isn’t eating too much meat; I’m an Oreo addict. If I could shoot them up, I would, just to get the creamy filling into my bloodstream faster.

We have over 50 food trucks operating in our city of 150,000. The picture of the creativity these folks bring to the food business is WAY off of Wiley’s image. http://fortcollinsfoodtrucks.com/place/Yeah, there is meat in there, but nothing like what this strip pictures. You do them a disservice.

Often the healthy eating recommendations provide self-fulfilling prophesies because they are adopted by people who are into being healthy and therefore more likely to work out and avoid excess.I eat meat and chocolate and cheese and I exercise regularly, enjoy walking, and don’t overdo those foods I enjoy. I am quite fit, have plenty of energy and enjoy life.

Trouble is the Department of Health and Human Services finally admitted that cholesterol is no longer considered a nutrient of concern for overconsumption.
