Tom Toles for March 23, 2015
Transcript:
A republican talks about the GOP budget, which is an optical illusion that appears to have three legs, but doesn't. The legs are Tax Cuts For The Rich, Big Unspecified Spending Cuts, and No Pain For You. Republican: A mighty edifice standing firmly on three legs.

Thanks, Dr. Doolittle. I’m sure Alexander wasn’t aware of that as he made his Pinocchio reference.

My late father had a drawing just like that. He was a civil engineer by profession, and it was an inside joke. It was called a “rectabular excrusion bracket.”

The bitch about the deficit but won’t engage in revising the tax code to get rid of all their special interest tax breaks. The only thing they put on the cutting block is Social Security and Medicare.

Still voting? Why?
TheFinalSolution about 9 years ago
As if geographic location had any bearing on elections. If voting really mattered, it would be against their so called laws.

That’s long since been debunked

Every good Tea-Party Reee-publican knows that if you is rich, it’s cuz you wuz favored by th’ hand uv Jeebus. So, any criticism of a wealthy person is a slap in th’ face o’ the LORDHallelujah!

When MAD used the (already well-known) illusion, someone there — Jaffee, I think — named it the “MAD Poiuyt.” Someone with a typewriter, anyway.

Best cartoon of the month so far! (Speaking of this month, I see that some commenters—I mention no names—have yet to sober up from St. Patrick’s Day……..)

logicalone: Please capitalize Green Party. Since the corporate media may not even mention, much less cover, those which do not take bribes, we need all the help we can to notify the electorate we exist..Speaking of help, can anyone tell who orders these censorships and why an allegedly free press obeys them? Appropriate technology coverage ceased the instant Reagan abolished the Bureau of Appropriate Technology in the Department of Energy. Greens took about a month after it was conclusively proved that Nader did not elect Bush. And I have found a half dozen or so other current subjects similarly never mentioned in the corporate media any more.

“The Dems had all three branches of govt. for the first two years of this administration.”.They gave us more recession!

Harley mentions a Fair Tax (Flat Tax). Well of course he does. The Republican Fair Tax would not only give the wealthy a huge tax cut, it would also give the poor a massive tax increase. Every Republican’s wet dream.
oneoldhat about 9 years ago
it is hard to cut taxes for those that pay $0 // how about the penney plan // guess that would upset mikey
neatslob Premium Member about 9 years ago
The Democrats held a majority in both chambers, but not a filibuster-proof majority, and the Republicans filibustered pretty much everything.
Robert C. Premium Member about 9 years ago
The Penny Plan is non-specific, ill-considered as to effect and actually illustrates why a “Flat Tax” is anything but fair, if you think about it: http://tinyurl.com/ckzo96s

“You mean like the Gruber LIE that is…”No I don’t mean like that. The point of the cartoon is that the Republican budget is an optical illusion. If you don’t like the point of the cartoon, draw your own to mean what you want.
Simon_Jester about 9 years ago
Lucky for YOU that’s the case.
