Holly: Halloween is on a FRIDAY this year.
Alix: AWEsome!
Holly: Hundreds of kids roaming the streets in costume...what should WE be??
KABOOM
Val: Something that looks good under a poncho?
Holly: Get it out of your system, OK??
And it is not going to be clear: chance of showers and cooler temps. Jan knows her Pac NW area all too well… I remember we used to wear big garbage bags over our costumes when it was pouring rain (especially in an area that usually didn’t have rain on Halloween)! ;)
The weather report here (PDX) says partly cloudy with a 60% chance of rain. How that translates is limited visibility and 100% chance of rain by Friday night.
Doesn’t matter if it rains here as that won’t affect the trip flares, foo gas or the Claymore and since the mailbox retracts into an armored housing at night when the vandals are loose or when the snowplows are out….. Yep, we’re ready! LOL LOL!
I remember the time I had to walk in the streets of the suburb I grew up in where it had snowed so much we could not cross the grass from house to house. In suburbia there is usually no sidewalks to shovel.
Baltimore is looking at 69 during the day, dropping to the mid 30s at night. We live so far in the woods I think we’ve had less than a dozen kids in the last 40 years. You have to be desperate for a free candy bar to come down our drive after dark!
I live in Wisconsin. For many years, we have had Trick-or-Treat on the Sunday before. It has always been quite cold. This year, they voted to have it on Halloween which is supposed to be very cold, but yesterday (the Sunday before) was really beautiful and warm enough to go without coats. Go figure!
For us there is a grade school 4 or 5 blocks away and most grade school children are bussed there. We live in a suburb but children who go in groups is getting thinner not sure how long we will treat. Our weather in KS changes. When my children was small we had 4" of snow. One year rained with tornado activity. Now older weather has been mild. Also I have as today 27th a birthday son now 32 unemployed.
AAAAAAAAA!! The weather.com forecast for Sheboygan County, WI, shows Friday as having a high of 39, low of 26. Watch out, toesies! And today has a high of 64. Sob. We go to Kohler for trick or treating, because it’s fancier and the decorations are better (they were much fancier in 2001, before the recession). Last year it rained, but people just took umbrellas and carried on as usual. It wasn’t all that cold then.
Actually, it can snow in the Cascades that face Portland, Oregon…even down to the foothills (which are rather small). Right now one of the ski resorts already has 8+ inches of snow and it has just begun… ;)

Even in the Pacific Northwest, it’s hard to predict a clear, rainless Halloween night.

Well over east a bit here in the Midwest (Mich) we might have the kiddies out in the snow for the night.

This year we might just put out the lights and pretend we are not at home.

In Northern Indiana, one can almost count on snow… unless of course it’s 70º. (always seems to be one or the other)

We’re expecting another bit of heat with 92 predicted so far. My oranges have not started to ripen much- it’s been too warm.

We’re expecting the tail-end of hurricane Ana tonight — Jan should be getting it too.
