As a Briton, this story arc has completely lost me. I am vaguely aware of something called “Gilligan’s Island”, but have no idea what it was about.

I will come back when this arc is over.

Harold Hecuba was a producer who came to the island, unaware of the castaways, to think of his next hit play. The gang put Hamlet to the tunes from Carmen, which they just happened to have because doesn’t everyone bring instrumental versions of operas with them on a 3 hour tour. Hecuba stole their ideas and left them stranded. I can still sing most of the tunes in my pleasant, but limited range bass baritone. No, it wasn’t a great show, but it had some clever bits to it.

I remember my Intro to Shakespeare class instructor being absolutely horrified that none of us had ever read or seen Hamlet, but we had all seen the Gilligan’s Island “Hamlet” episode.

And I believe, although there was a bit of overlap(1967), Gilligan’s Island used “Watch out for that… tree!” before George of the Jungle.
