Mr. Pastis visited my kids’ elementary school this past week promoting his new children’s book series. (I think it’s called Timmy Failure?) All I could think of is the way Rat writes stories. I asked my daughter if – by any chance – there is a character named “Danny Donkey” and to my relief, the answer was “no.”

When he returned, his lab was brightly colored in reds and blues. “This is just beautiful!”, he cried. Putting on his meanest scowl, he went to the secret room to get his favorite automatic weapon, Mr. Poppy. “Let’s go make some new friends, Mr. Poppy.”, he said.

Is this a rerun or just an often used joke?
