I am heartbroken that all the work that went into your party has disappeared. Every single one of my pictures, and most of the ones that others posted have vanished! I am glad that you at least had an opportunity to see most of them before they were vaporized, and that you know how much we all wish you all the best on this special day. And, I suppose that’s the most important thing…that your friends have gathered around to celebrate your birthday with you…no one can take that away!

We did have our fun.Now its back to work.Gary misses his old job as public works inspector.Retired back in 89.The dog will add approval. Leaving a blog for other dogs to also admire the works.

Im so glad that I got to see all the hard work yesterday. I don’t know how to do all that stuff and I’m amazed at it. I still have the pictures in my head and I will visit them often. It is like having ones art work torn up and pitched in the wastebin right in front of you. I just pray it wasn’t in response to a certain bogus “teacher”!

Stel, I feel for you. It was some of your best work. I adored your head dress! I worked hard to find pics that I could sort of weave into a birthday story, but I do understand that we probably overloaded the BS server and unless it dumped the html stuff, it was probably gonna crash…I am just glad that most of us and MOST OF ALL the Munky got to see it.

And Munky, Hope you had an awesome day in the real world too!Fentons cousin however, has an issue he would like to bring up with you at some point…

Good morning all….

This is earlier than I usually post… I had a late night and now have what is for me (though not most people… LOL) an early appointment, so, unfortunately, I haven’t much time right now….

It was a great party, and like most of you, I’m sad and upset to have seen it destroyed….

BUT, I just want to say…. while I am very dismayed, I’m not going anywhere.

I’ve been posting on the comics since 2008, starting on Comics.com, and have met wonderful people…..

Some of you are real friends of mine today.

I only started posting images sometime in late 2011.I love doing it…. and I’m very happy we’ve been allowed to use the GoComics bandwidth and servers for our purposes,

However, I don’t necessarily feel entitled to continue doing so.

It’s really their decision as to whether they can continue to support it financially .

I DO feel that they’ve been uncommunicative, and rude, and that we need to find out somehow what their parameters might be, and try to work out a solution.

Some of you already know that I don’t give up easily…. So…. mostly, I want to plead:Please don’t go away! I love you all!

And Monkey…. I’m very glad that you enjoyed your birthday while you could.

After all, that WAS the goal!

Susan I have been a member here since 2008, never posted at comics.com but I had a large queue over there too.

They do owe us at least an explanation. If it was the bandwidth, they should tell us so.

I feel bad for Stel. She is quite upset, and she is a lovely lady and I hate that this happened. They did take all the pictures down though. Even my little monkey. And I don’t care much for monkeys, but he was cute. :-D

I just wish there was more communication.

Scooter, are you thinking what I’m thinking? And you Gary, what are you thinking? And what will Shirley think when try to explain to her what you thought you saw and what you think about it. Try to relax Gary and tell me what it is you think you see. I have seen a lot things which looks like this, but I’m sure I’ve never seen this before. Scooter is so confused he doesn’t know which end to piss on and you know how important piss placement is to a dog. So say so Gary, in two short sentences, say what it is or say something. OK, this is a by pass loop with a shut off and relief valve above ground because the back flow preventer was never installed underground. Right? No it’s probably not a loop. It’s a tie to another pipeline, just turn on the valve and let her ripe. Now I see why you are so excited.

MODERATORS, IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS AND I HOPE YOU ARE

In all your zeal to take down all those pictures, you could have taken 2 minutes or less to post a comment stating why, Yes, I read the rules, it is at your discretion to remove photos. However, there was nothing at all offensive posted, it was all in fun. Aren’t the comics supposed to be a fun place to come? Some of these people took a lot of time to do those pictures, to tweak them, etc. to make others who enjoy them happy. They thought they were doing something nice for others.

Keep in mind, many people here are housebound, handicapped, sick, elderly or lonely and these places at gocomics make many people happy and feel less alone and like they belong somewhere. The least you could do just out of decency, is explain WHY you did that.

I Just found a little time to read the comments from this week’s comics, and, first of all, I’d like to wish Sherif (suny beechis) MunkyBluz a Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Wish I’d had a chance to join in the fun, before all the images were taken away! I know it was a great party while it lasted…

Does anyone know yet, why all the pictures were removed from yesterdays strip???!The MAIN REASON I joined GoComics was because I enjoy reading the comments, (especially on Ballard St.) and looking at the Amazing, wacky, Day Brightening, laughter inducing contributions of such talents extraordinaire as StelBel, Susan SunShine, Beveik, X-Tech, Sherif MunkyBluz, Happy,Happy,Happy….I’d almost have to name every regular commenter I’ve seen here, for making this one of the most entertaining places I visit on the internet!

ah have a very suspicious feeling about a specific posting taht I am aware of…. that I made on AC 2 days ago… maybe nothing, maybe something….Gotta go…munky out

As for flagging, that is also quite possible. I’m sure there are many readers who feel we should all meet on Facebook and leave the personal comments out of the comic pages.

I have seen that attitude on other strips, so that wouldn’t come as a big surprise.

It must have been the bandwidth (I think the only reason we get away with most birthday celebrations is that they have no one attending to business except on week days). It seemed to me that we WERE celebrating on the closest Sunday (but it was just coincidence) that may be necessary tho’. People who we have had to flag (for persistent ads) are never looked at on weekends, it seems – Just Sayin’

A very good point, Dazz. I’m aware of at least a few posters who only post on week days.

I have been here since 2008. One time one of our group, wanted to make a Birthday special for one of our other group, a dear lady who was turning 75 at the time. The girl, 19 years old at that time, wanted to make the day special for our Senior member, so she went to every comic on the site, NOT NEAR AS MANY AS NOW, and wished her a Happy Birthday, no pictures, just a Happy Birthday greeting in a short sentence. Apparently other posters considered it spamming and contacted gocomics. Our 19 year old was banned from the site. All of us members posted on that strip and also emailed gocomics and explained it wasn’t spamming and our teenaged girl explained, etc. To make a long story short, this all happened in one day, and the moderator named LIAM, posted at our site, explained everything to us, re-instated our girl and just said to be careful what you do and don’t go to every site to wish someone a greeting, etc. Apparently the policy has changed and I looked at the list of people at gocomics and sadly, Liam isn’t there, unless that wasn’t his real name.

After all this long post, the point being, back then, they DID respond, almost instantly! Guess they have gotten TOO BIG FOR THEIR BRITCHES, MAYBE!?

If anything, Fellow Baby, I would say that they are less tolerant of the things inoffensive and more tolerant of the offensive. At least, that’s the way I see it.

I don’t read AC, but from what I’ve heard of 6’s troubles, that poster should have been kicked off the island rather swiftly and efficiently. And yet….

I don’t think it’s a matter of bandwidth or storage. No other strips with a lot of image posting (that I’ve looked at) have had images deleted. It’s just here at a Ballard St. and note that all the images posted from the 16th to the 21st have been deleted. GoComics is trying to tell us something – Don’t post images at Ballard St.

Why? Since they’re not saying it’s all conjecture.

Yes, Fellow Baby the times seem to be changing around here. As I said, they have too much to keep up on, got too big. I mean, look at how many strips they have now. Some are TOTALLY WORTHLESS, LIKE PLASTIC BABYHEADS FROM SPACE or whatever that stupid strip is called. And that isn’t the only one! Maybe I should start using D@mn and He!! again and see if they notice!

Oh yeah, Fellow Baby and someone keeps attacking afficionado, whose name I won’t mention because she? loves the attention. They do nothing about that, and that person has been more than nasty and hateful to him. For NO REASON!

Fellow Baby, hopefully that person will slip up and say something that can be flagged. Remember BULLDOG? When I stopped aping attention to him, he really started going nuts. But unfortunately, it all happened during the Christmas holidas and it took much longer to bounce the guy than it should have. They really should have someone minding the store on weekends and holidays.

I’m concearned about guys like Leaky who can be loose cannons when someone burns him.

The next time he flies off the handle could be his last.

Well I s’pose it’s time to turn in. Cheer up folks, the weekend is almost upon us.

Good night, all! I agree, it’s been a long day so I think I’ll retire early (did groceries at my Sprouts today) and I may go on Saturday to water store (closed on Sunday and I have doctor on Monday). If I do more than one errand in a day, car is too hot – so I DON’T.

Back sooner than I expected….

I think a fair number of us need to try contacting GoComics, as I plan to do…. But in a reasonable tone…with NO accusations, wild guesses, name-calling, or paranoia…WITHOUT indulging in anger, despair, or foregone conclusions.

it could be that someone is (or some small group of people are using multiple identities to flag Ballard Street…or it could be that a mod happened to see the excessive use of bandwidth one day and root out the “trouble,” going back as far as his/her time would allow.

And BTW, discussing so-called “trolls” from other forums here on Ballard St only makes them want to troll THIS one…

Such people do read profiles…if they want to make trouble for you, they will follow your comments to any page where you discuss them.

One of the prime rules of teh innernets: IGNORE TROLLS!DON’T DISCUSS THEM ON FORUMS !

You can e-mail mods, admins or each other about them but they THRIVE on public mention.

Let’s not start blaming ourselves or each other!

PS … Grog, sorry, but I fail to follow you on what Leaky, who left some months ago under unwarranted attack, and only recently returned, has to do with pictures disappearing on Ballard Street!

As for Sundays….

I just went through my calendar….

We have celebrated, by my count, 11 birthdays on Ballard Street in the past 12 months….. one Monday, four Tuesdays, three Thursdays, one Friday and two Sundays.

There was also a Sunday birthday with some images posted, which some of us here also celebrated…. but it was on a different forum.

We have never moved anyone’s birthday to Sunday or any other day…all have been celebrated as they occurred…and we would never choose to do so, as explaining the starting time of a Sunday event on a strip that doesn’t update on Saturday night has always been a frustrating task.

Checking back, the day of the week seems to have little bearing on which parties have had pictures stripped out…but the volume and/or size of the images themselves, as I recall them, MAY have had an effect.

It’s possible that there was a plan by GoComics, or a rationale, or that it’s all totally random….or whimsical, in the lesser used meaning of the term.

I think when I post pictures, meanwhile, I’ll limit their width severely, but, if need be, link them to a larger view elsewhere.

If you’d like to do that and need help with instructions, just ask.

Susan, I don’t think Grog was saying Leaky had ANYTHING to do with this incident at BS. He was referring to elsewhere, if I am not mistaken. I don’t see a lot of Leaky’s comments, but what I see are fine, funny and quirky, but I don’t read all comments everywhere. If I did, I would get NOTHING ELSE DONE! :-D

Susan, Grog (Fellow Baby to me) is pretty “straight up”, polite, says what he thinks without being mean or vindictive. In my book, he’s a good guy.

@Susan, Bev,I would love instructions to post smaller images (used to use that formula code for the 360 width, which now can’t be used), and there are sometimes thumbnails I could save (if I find images in a Yahoo search). I also don’t mind if the images just need to be a LINK (I’ve gotten used to opening the musical ones in another tab, so I can listen while continuing to read comments). That was what I tried to recommend for music I posted for Munky’s B-day@X-Tech, I also loved the animated script (when I once put together a webpage, I found a site that did my logo that way). I since decided I had no reason for a page.

Who doesn’t?

But let’s hope he doesn’t love it so much that he starts climbing around on it like it was a set of monkey bars.
