Yesterday, Jr. said, “That is one of the most amusing videos to Tracy that I’ve seen.” Are people in Tracy’s city in the habit of sending videos to the Chief of Detectives? Jr. acted as if it were a somewhat common occurrence. My first thought was that it would be rather unusual. What do you folks think?

Laugh while ye may, Tracy! Jumble is just laying the groundwork for his super-villainy!

Well, although he hasn’t committed any crime that we know about, Mr. Jumbles has certainly put himself under Tracy’s microscope. However from Tracy’s perspective all this is so far is a wacko who posted a video online. I’m sure at this point Tracy is as curious as we all are.

In real life, I think any detective who was sent a video with someone in THAT outfit would be too busy laughing his head off to take the man seriously! I think even Batman would be saying: “This has GOT to be a joke!” (After which he’d go off to look for the Joker in a big black mustache)

I miss the nice you who makes intelligent comments and treats others with respect… I don’t miss the “LOL” version who just seems to be looking for arguments…. I hope we see more of the former, than the latter.

Willy007 (in reply to your thoughtful post of yesterday), you’re right that Gould slipped one past the censors, even as discriminating readers saw what was right in front of their eyes—or what was missing, as the case may be. In addition to The Painted Lady’s outstretched arms enforcing the reality of her nakedness, they connect the tops of the vanities, guiding the line off panel left, toward the horizon.

I also like your point about Gould trusting the intelligence of his readers. What was shown, in all its marvelous, stylized detail, meshed so well with what was left to our imagination. Gould truly was a master. It is a shame that the four panel “grammar” of the daily strip was reduced to three, and that the size of the strip shrank, making it nearly impossible to emulate the luxuriant, detailed work of Gould’s lengthy classic period.

These limitations make the wonderful current work of Team Tracy all the more impressive.
