I like Sophie’s avatar! And she looks beyond the obvious, as usual.

Meanwhile, Elvis continues to be his old fart self, typing all caps with no avatar and few (online) friends.

If I could, I’d follow/friend Sophie! and Elvis, of course … :)

Diesel in particular loves hard surfaces to sleep on. His “bedtime” spot is the top of the bookcase right next to my bed (it’s not a tall bookcase). He only sleeps on the bed when it’s cold.

“ALSO, I GOT STUCK ON THE WAY OUT.” Bahahahaha!!

I love that Sophie has a creative avatar. Unfortunately, I can’t figure it out!

I’m shocked and disappointed that Elvis wrote “real bad” rather than “really bad”. If even he can’t get it right, then we are all doomed.

What sort of linen closet has a sunspot inside?

On a sunny day, my cat room is one big sun spot. The spots move from place to place and they’re large enough to accommodate 5 cats.

Sophie’s really getting into being a correspondent, isn’t she?

I’ll have to go with Puck on this one.

Sophie has 0 friends! How can that be? She should at least have Tommy - he adores Sophie; she is his favorite cat in the world.

I’m not sure the Man and Woman are happy with Sophie’s Choice.

It’s amazing the spots that cats will sleep in. At night, Yum Yum sometimes likes to sleep on the bedroom window ledge. Trajectory as follows: floor to bed; bed to record stand; record stand to headboard; headboard up to bookcase; weave in and around out board games; bookcase to my tall dresser/wardrobe; wardrobe down to windowsill. Return journey is much simpler: flying leap from windowsill to bed; land with a resounding thump. Repeat.

I am just loving the poetic description given by Sophie – she’s not only artistic with visual media but also with the written/spoken word. ♥♥♥♥

Late yesterday, ladykat asked if she were losing her mind, or if Lalybarger had actually posted that Shaunnmunn (Laly’s sister) had canceled her GoComics subscription. Unfortunately, that was true. Here’s Lalybarger’s post:

I have been asked to let everyone know my sister, Shaunn, has, for reasons due to mental health, cancelled her membership in GoComics.

There’s a lot she feels remorseful for, and has been more and more afraid to come back after every hiatus. She needs to get her head straightened out, and wants to get to the bottom of things.

She asked for no responses to this message. She just wants to let you all know how much she loves you, and that she hopes the best for every one of you.

Thank you for being such good friends. Please let her break this off now, so she can get more help.

GoComics has let her know she can come back whenever she wants, which is very generous.

My Cassidy likes to sleep, draped over my sneakers, which I keep under a glass table. I noticed that he only sleeps there when the sun hits the window, above the table, juussst right!

Please tell me I’m not the only one who is wowed by Georgia’s creativity…I am blown away sometimes by her thought process. I mean, to transform a simple observation of how our cat(s) seem to enjoy napping in the sun into these wonderful website reviews, every one reflecting the personality of each of the cats in the BCN world! Wow, just wow. And, most importantly, thank you Georgia—for your clever interpretation of the feline thought process…and for sharing it all with us every day :):)

I think many cats would love the breadbox. Maine Coons and Norwegian Forest Cats might find it cramped.

I like Tabatha’s reviewing style – succinct but still covering the pawsitives and negatives of a sunspot. You can make an educated decision about trying her places.

I’m guessing that Sophie chooses not to accept any friend requests.

Our house is oriented on a SE to NW axis. And we have deep porches around three sides. So sunspots in the greatroom are best in early spring and late fall when the rising and setting sun is at its south most orientation to the horizon. However, screen porch sunspots are a frequent afternoon occurrence and much appreciated although I wonder how they can stand lying in a sunspot when the air is ninety and humid…but they do.

I want to know Moonspot scores ;)

The breadbox comment reminds me of Elvis’ remark about a sleeping box being impossibly tiny in the Tommy Christmas arc.

When I was young (I think) the comics section of the newspaper, spread out on the floor where I was reading it, was a cat favorite. Sometimes a daring raider would dash under the pages and snag the choice bedding. Nothing has that lovely crinkling sound with every change of nap position.

RE: The icons. Late yesterday Elizabeth gave this explanation, and Georgia endorsed it:I’m guessing the “cat head” is the number of other cats who have “checked in” to that sunspot. Beatrix’s review has a high number because it’s public, Tommy’s is approaching 50 because his mom is a cat rescuer, Elvis’ is low because he is hogging the new mat (and Lupin keeps adding location tags to annoy him,) and Puck has a moderate number because cats are tagging their own pizza boxes. The “sun” ought to be upvotes/likes.

I suspect Puck will leave a 5 sun review no matter where the nap spot is, or if it involves sun or not.

Hearkening back to the “Whisker Fatigue” strip the other day, we opted to put some of our excess saucers to use as feeding dishes for Akiro. It’s only been two days, but I can happily report that he seems happier; he doesn’t immediately start caterwauling when he sees the bottom of his bowl (defined as a spot that can be covered by a single piece of kibble!) and he doesn’t seem to be scattering as much wet food on the mat, either. I’m counting this as a win for all parties involved!

I haven’t seen any of Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who episodes yet, just ads, but the way Goldie’s drawn reminds me of her.

Rats!

I open my windows at night so my home can cool down after a hot day. I was just doing that, and when I opened one of the living room windows, there was a preying mantis clinging to the outside of the window screen. I went back to my bedroom to get my camera so I could take a picture, but when I got back, Sooti had gotten onto the windowsill and the mantis was gone.

If it happens again, I will leave the window closed with the curtain over it while I get my camera.
