Hey, a callback to Luann’s sexy witch costume! Great. I’m not excited by Woody and Jessy costumes, though. Both were pretty dull and kind of generic western themed. Why no Flash Gordon and Dale Arden?

WHOA! Okay! Um . . . I feel . . . like . . . I shouldn’t be this intrigued with Luann’s saucy costume. . . .

And when Bets sees pictures of the two of them together, the spell is broken.

The Gunther and Luann Sexy Witch costume ran in 2008. October 15th through the 18th and picked up again on the 29th through the 31st.

Well Luann got to see Gunter after he took most everthing off in the library that time after bein doused by th sprinkler system. She saw it all. Then Gerg pulled his all time biggest innuendo when Gunter put on his ‘Billy th Bookworm’ outfit right after that.

It looks like the friendship might be going somewhere, but then it might not. Not all male/female relationships need to end up in romance.

I like the witch costume. One of the best I’ve seen. Too bad it is only drawn.

And speaking of the Sexy Witch, as I recall, Lu was quite willing for Gunny to get all “hands on” to measure her for the outfit. Ahhhh, the GOOD Old Days. Methinks Lu will want Gunny to (A-HEM) “measure” her once again.

Whatever outfit Lu chooses, I recommend Gunther measure Luann quickly at the Gulag before Les gets off work.

Gunther seems really happy at the idea of making a new cosplay for himself and his friend Luann. I’m more and more convinced that he would be a great costume designer for movie and theatre. Luann really understands and encourage him, they truly have a beautiful friendship.

Gunther is experiencing hormonal withdrawal.

Woody and Jessie aren’t even a couple. It should be Woody and Bo Peep as a concept.

It would be nice to see a permanent, wholesome, romantic relationship between Gunther and Luann. But that won’t happen since the woke authors don’t want people to have nice things.

Nowhere in recorded history has one teenager speaking to another used the adjective ‘saucy’. Wake up and smell the decaf G&K!

It"s a generic term. If you google “saucy” or “naughty” costumes it will take you to sites that sell “sexy nurse”, “sexy firefighter” “sexy bunny” costumes.We have some HollyHobby parts of the country where those are the terms polite people use.

I immediately pictured Luann saying “I’m the baddest witch in the world!” But with a different meaning from Ramona Quimby’s.

What? Gun makes a saucy witch costume and is concerned about using the word bust around its intended model? He must really like Luann.

So Gunther makes some costumes (ComiCon style) for him and LuAnn, and Bets finds out, will that bring her back or continuing into new space, exploring new worlds, heading “Out There”.

Now the recent mention of Gunther’s sewing kit comes into play…

Gunther is often awkward around women and any mention of their bodies. It is hard to imagine that he actually had sex with Bets.

it looks with Tiff’s party and Gunther gets back into making costumes, he is getting of Bets.

Despite that these two are long time friends it is a little bothersome that Luann keeps reaching out to touch Gunther (sort of a combination of being both suggestive and motherly). Gunther has said he doesn’t want to date and I feel those declared boundaries are not being respected. When Luann announced that they should get together again with pointed finger (as if she was directing a 3 yr old), that too was a bit irksome. Gunther is in some kind of vulnerable state and Luann seems to be taking advantage. It doesn’t sound as if he and Bets have officially broken up yet Luann is pushing him in that direction ( it seems).

Just get on with it already! You’ve both already seen each other naked!

It must be repeated: Gunther will have to do a deep dive into his feelings. It would seem that Luann already knows what he will find. This is what friendship blossoming into more looks like; such things cannot be forced. Gun has not been waiting in the friend zone for Luann, but has instead proven himself to be a sensible and caring boyfriend to Rosa and Bets. Luann has had front-row seating to this. Perhaps we shouldn’t anticipate another kiss, but an intense embrace, followed by the kiss.

If Elon Musk can say that we are sleepwalking into WW3, then these two are sleepwalking towards a union. It fits. These two SHOULD be sweethearts. I’m gonna root for ’em.

In panel 3, they are mirroring each others’ body language. Clearly, they like each other a lot! Bernice is taking furious notes, I’m sure.

But Woody and Buzz are the couple, aren’t they?

Gunther of course starts sputtering like a 12 year old.

Luann’s a goofy tease and Gunther is just hopeless at being the least bit forward.

Before I get more invested in this story arc, can you at least drop a hint if this is actually going to LEAD TO SOMETHING between these two… or should I just take a vacay and come back for the Christmas story line?

Notice that Gunther is the only character getting any “action”. First hands on with Luann, then all the way with Rosa then Bets.

LuAnn is not a good person. She just met with a bunch of guys, and only flirts with the one who has a girlfriend.

Gunther should realize that Luann is right and quit trying so hard to remain loyal to a girl that is not going to be his wife or life partner. Should he really want to be with a person who can (and probably will, again) just take off on their own without any consideration of his feelings? I know there’s the argument of allowing each person to pursue their dreams (I just want to be me thinking), but once you commit to another person, both parties need to learn to compromise. After school, Gunther will have job responsibilities and Bets will still be a free spirit. I don’t see it working in the long term.

Seems Luann and Gunther have been good friends forever. She can accept and understand him as is. Bets seemed to try to change him, ignoring his goals.

I usually don’t add a second comment, I let the one, spur of the moment be my comment. Don’t get me wrong, all of us long-time followers of the strip, can probably cop to a rank or two, but today, looking at the panels a second time, I have to note how Gunther is drawn to be so sexually repressed. That always confused me in a sense, him hooking up with such a vital and sexy young woman as Bets. But again, this strip is full of opposites attracting, whether, friends, such as Tara and Lu, or Crystal and Knute (oh we miss this couple) putative boyfriend and girlfriend.

Has Gunth been quietly crushing on Luann all this time?

Or they could dress up as John and Yoko

Okay, try this. Gunther and Luann become a couple at last, they finish school, get married, have a couple of kids, thus begins a new comic strip “LUANN,THE NEXT GENERATION!”. Random thought.

This conversation, and his costume… he has really regressed, has he not at all matured through his 2 romantic, adult relationships? Dress, body language, fear factor… He is really making Luann look like an adult.
