    No?

Looks like working in a field where she was responsible for the wellbeing of others (mainly small children) has prepared Luann for such an emergency situation; for once, she actually seems to know what she’s doing.

We’re owned by the parent company of USA TODAY, so we pack and distribute multiple different publications in multiple cities and states, including New York, Kentucky, Tennessee, and both Carolinas.

Even so, I wouldn’t have given a direct answer for that very reason anyway.

As a matter of fact, I did. The Mona Lisa, but the name plate says “Mama Lisa”.

I mostly work weekends, so I tend to see the Sunday funnies, not dailies.

While Luann does have a point in that flowers and candy don’t last, they do still possess sentimental value just the same. My dad always got my mom a huge bouquet of flowers every year for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. After he died two years ago, my mom has mentioned several times in passing how she misses receiving flowers on those days, and it really ate away at me. Granted, I haven’t been able to afford the big bouquets my dad would have arranged and delivered to her from the actual flower shop, and the best I could do last year was just a cheap little bouquet from the grocery store floral department . . . but just to receive flowers on her special days again, she cried. Again, I can’t go all out like my dad did, but least she can have it again, and that’s my plan for tomorrow: get up early, get her some flowers, and leave them waiting for her when she wakes up. Then take her out for dinner tomorrow night.

P.S. Once again, working in a newspaper mailroom now, I saw today’s strip a week ago.
