   I see this as a reversal of Lu helping Gun on DatePic, leading to Bets. Here’s Bets doing something that looks nearly tailor-made for Lu to gain a new guy in her life.

   This arc has legs. We have not gotten a lot of Tiff & Bets doing things as a duo. We also know that both of them have a special place in a certain young man’s heart. This branding exercise could very well serve to establish just which of the two of them really belongs with Gunther. While I’ve been one to predict the strip ending with Gun & Lu at the altar, I have also been one to say that he would go through Tiffany first, before arriving at (and ending up with) Luann.

   It’s rather fun to look at the longer arc, right now. Toni & Brad have a new dimension to their family planning. Bernice is coming into her own as a counselor; we know that Piro is just a foil who would never have the time or patience for her. We’ve not seen or heard from Kip in 6 months, but he has apparently not pulled the breakup trigger with Stef. Ox has been MIA for even longer, but could still be Tiff’s end-game. It may be about time for Jonah Montana to land that elusive big role, or perhaps meet with tragedy. Frank & Nancy continue to age, as we all do, and Mrs. Horner redefines senior vibrancy, but is the next probable funeral. It does almost feel like we could be due for a return of a past character or two, even if it amounts to a mere cameo appearance. Some event with a live band might see Knute and (or) Crystal playing in it, for example.

   Methinks that there is a rather strong hint of the strip wrapping next year, given what the answer to the riddle is. Toni’s possible motherhood arc would be a rather significant clue. We’ll have to see if various other loose ends start getting tied up, or completely unraveled. Bets & Gun are about due for an audience check-in. A breakup has been hinted at, and I suppose that Gun & Lu together in the final strip would not be in a matrimonial setting (unless there is a “shotgun” aspect to it), if this strip has one calendar year left. If the Evans’ game plan is to get to 45 years, all of my time-honored predictions hold firm.

   One positive: If there’s a year remaining, there’s likely not gonna be too many weeks of Lu-Bern bedroom psychiatry.

   A lot of us saw the end of today’s strip coming; solid arc here. We’ll get a different arc on Monday, in all probability, but this one will linger in the background, and resurface again during 2024. We’re about due to revisit Bets & Gun.

   Check with some survey data from delivery room personnel and DNA labs before making such an assertion. It is estimated that 3 in 10 babies have the incorrect father’s name on the birth certificate. I’m not saying that Toni is a cheater, but some folks’ math in this sub-thread does not take modern reality into account. Mandatory DNA testing at birth is being gradually legislated, and it’s the women who are mostly unhappy about it. That begs the question of why, if women truly have nothing to hide. The debate rages on, via the usual video sites. This is one scenario where “trust the science” is apropos.

   All of that said, I’m with the false alarm camp. This could be the beginning of an arc that deals with a more serious subject, like ovarian cancer, and could ultimately result in Shannon’s adoption, which has been a prediction of mine for years.
