It doesn’t matter if it is a bikini, a Regency dress, or a burka. A pile of dirt becomes a valuable mine when someone recognizes where to dig.

A click-to-enlarge version, of this cropped image, can be found at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry (yesterday).Delivering the New Hat (under her arm) or A Source of Admiration (the current title here) is privately owned (has click-to-enlarge, full, framed image, among others). It is currently available from here. The artist’s bio (longer bio here and here), Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories).Twenty-fifth, of the 26 works (again, for some reason, it only found 20; this time, this, and, again, this, this, this, this and this, aren’t among them), by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here (26 total).

http://www.gocomics.com/profiles/258045Sir mabrndt I believe that the link you go to is only showing the first 20 due to expediency. There is a “Next Posts” link at the end that show the other 6. The “Show all Posts” link under the “That is priceless” logo may or may not show them all.

Regency. High waist, pelisse. No hoops. Not Victorian. And considering that haute fashion consisted of gauzy dresses with minimal underwear—sometimes dampened to make it see-through—this is pretty good coverage for the period. The painting, however, is an early 20th century “historical piece” painted after Victoria died so it fails on a lot of counts….
