I just saw an old clip of Donald Glover’s standup, talking about when Obama was running for president he was ‘a black candidate’ – when he got elected he was suddenly ‘mixed’.
I was a Willie Mays fan when I was a kid, and I told anyone who would listen that Willie would have broken Ruth’s record first if he hadn’t missed almost two full seasons while serving in the military. Looking back now, that might have been true, but Willie certainly wouldn’t have gone on to hit 755 like Hank Aaron did. I did come around to truly appreciating Hank’s achievement and his skills, especially after learning about all the hate he had to endure en route to setting the record. I wasn’t aware of all that when I was a kid.
Thank god I live the way I do. Hank Aaron was a beast at baseball. Obama was our first black president (and one of the greatest presidents in history, imo). Blues/Jazz/R&B/Rock (ESPECIALLY rock!!)/Hip-Hop is where some of the best music can be found. Serena and Venus Williams are the greatest women’s tennis players in history. If I’m wrong, I don’t want to be right.

I’d like to think Ruth would be happy for Aaron.

Hank Aaron had number 44 on his shirt and as I looked him up, there was even a picture with this number on his bat.
Obama was the 44th president.
Nice coincident!
