    Um… Linus, isn’t a pumpkin a squash?

Did you ever get the feeling Schulz intended Marcie to know exactly what she was saying (“squash” instead of “pumpkin”) and to do so intentionally to harass (or tease) Linus? Same thing with calling Peppermint Patty “Sir” – perhaps it wasn’t dullness on Marcie’s part but was a way of teasing PP.

Hey Linus, why don’t you carve up some pumpkins into some neat Jack-O-Lanterns? Or does that cut into the “Great Pumpkin”?

The Great Pumpkin did not show – it was scooped up by a giant Apple.

Linus, if you cut open the pumpkin and scoop out the pumpkin meat. You can then make a custard and put in a pie-shell. Bake it and you get Great Pumpkin pie.

In a 1977 Peanuts strip, Marcie called the Great Pumpkin the “Great Grape”.

Ok, this is probably heretical—- but fill in your own lines after the second panel— such as “Does that happen often to men?”“NO”

Years ago, I saw a cartoon of the Great Pumpkin, drunk, trying to pickup a girl at a bar and saying, “You know, I REALLY need to meet this kid in a pumpkin patch, but I’m getting more from you now!”
