St Louis’ mayor is a Democrat, but any city does not exist in a vacuum. The surrounding areas are strongly Republican. There is some good analysis of complicating factors later in the story as well.

Think that the problem is far more complex, and less one-sided, than your post would lead others to believe.

I belong to a community garden. It backs up to a middle school. All the kids were out on the field and I thought about the shootings at Oxford High School and how vulnerable we all were.
