At least no one said maths

But in the meantime, let’s work on simplifying fractions.

16/64 = (cancel the sixes) 1/4. Done!

26/65 = (cancel the sixes) 2/5. Done!

19/95 = (cancel the nines) 1/5. Done!

Don’t ever let anyone tell you math is hard.

Assignment due September 18:

Chapter 3 problems 1-7, 9, 10, 13, 15, 18, 20, 21 and 23

A reminder that homework will constitute 25% of your semester grade, so be sure to check your homework twice.

No, Jason, she got it right the first time.

5. ##### Kwen5 months ago

I always was bad at maths, but I agree with Jason and like her teacher spirit . (Didn’t bother to get the answers, however.)

So, it’s a very small part of her semester grade

Math was always my easiest subject, so I’m on Team Jason for this one.

What about the negative square roots of those numbers? Does that double the size of the homework assignment?

Dorkiest? I’d say most evil!

Figuring out the homework assignment WAS the math homework.

11. ##### mindjob5 months ago

The good thing is she doesn’t have to solve problems that aren’t a square root of some whole number

I understand that some people find math difficult, but I will never understand why they brag about it.

Something tells me Jason will make sure he gets that teacher when he reaches the same grade Paige is in.

I never got why math teachers don’t assign all the problems for a lesson from the textbook as homework.

so much of what is taught in math doesn’t apply in life, over 40 years out of school and I have not once needed to find a square root or the area under a parabola.

Here’s an interesting math problem for you all…

There was an Arab who had 17 camels died. His will said that his camels should be divided between his three sons in a specific way. The eldest son was to get 1/2 of the camels, the middle son was supposed to get 1/3 of the camels, and the youngest son got 1/9 of the camels. How did they do it without cutting up any camels?

I had an algebra teacher like that in 9th grade. The day before Christmas break she handed out a worksheet with just one very long problem printed on it. The answer spelled “Merry Xmas”. Most of the kids just moaned and groaned and said they’d finish the problem during break. Only three of us finished during class-time. It was just for fun and never graded.

This teacher makes sure her students get the material hammered in! I wonder if she talks the same way.

Bravo!! One of the cleverist comic I have seen in years, again Bravo, very funny…

And of course I happily sat here and worked all the math.

In my head. Yay, math!

And I thought geometry class was bad…

I can read it but it’s very annoying.

23. ##### DaBumpPremium Member5 months ago

I was having fun doing the math in my head but I quit when it felt like work at the square root of 169.

I have dyscalculia. All of those equations? Pure gibberish to me. Numbers roll about and get so jumbled, I develop major headaches. Gah.

dadoctah posted a “trick” earlier, but recently I learned one that really does work.

A percentage problem that might be a little difficult as written (say, 8% of 25) can be reversed for easier solving (25% of 8).

that was a delight!

Her term syllabus on Shakespeare should be an interesting read, too.
