I’m old enough to remember iron lungs taking over floors on hospitals. Anti-vaxxers claim that the fact that Smallpox disappeared worldwide after the vaccine became widely available was that it “burned itself out”, despite having plagued the world for millennia. Likewise, polio disappeared from the world where the vaccine was available. Again, they claim it “burned itself out”. How does an infectious disease burn itself out, short of killing every available victim?
I think the cartoonist is pointing out that diseases that were nearly eradicated are now coming back in force due to resistance to vaccinations based on unscientific propaganda.
The amount of human suffering, especially among children, is yet to be seen. But it will arrive thanks to people who think they are patriots, who think they are Christians, who in fact simply want to retain the dominance they no longer deserve, and which has been a bane to our society for decades.
Because Politik über Wissenschaft … which translates to “Politics over Science”. And to brainwashed rabid MAGAs, who cares how many people they kill, as long as they go along with them and stand back while they take care of their murderous business.
Meanwhile, the Heritage Foundation is working, hand in glove with authoritarian Belarus dictator Viktor Orban, idolized darling of CPAC, to tailor the Project 2025 plans, in which they would invest a psycho traitor mobster with ALL the powers of Government and co-ordinate with the murderous dictators of the world.
First, stifle free speech and the media, then nationalize the media and vital industries. Next, convert the FBI and other security agencies into a new Gestapo to persecute, prosecute, and imprison (or kill) all opposition and “undesirables”.

We had a hospital here in town with four floors that I had seen packed out with beds in the hallways many times. They built a new hospital about half that size. Why? Because now they ship you out to a city hospital somewhere. The MedFlight is very busy. And very expensive. And the old hospital building? Still in use, repurposed as part of a local college. They have also closed hospitals in small towns across the Tri-State area while making larger hospitals in cities that charge more. Your American for-profit health care
A few years back there was a measles epidemic in our local bible-belt suburb. The paper had an interview with a pastor who was publicly condemning vaccination as “attempting to thwart the will of God.” Presumably, if God wants you to get some disease, then getting vaccinated thwarts His plans and there is nothing He can do about it. Unfortunately, the reporter did not ask the pastor the question that immediately came to my mind: “Do you look both ways when crossing a busy street?”
