Miss my grandad. He was the father figure in my life (only he and 1 of my 6 sisters bothered to come to my wedding) Passed away a little over a year ago and I didn’t get to say goodbye nor attend his funeral as the rest of my family is shunning me since I’ve chosen to leave their religion (JW’s) they didn’t see fit to tell me he’d had a heart attack and was in the hospital or that he’d died, heard it from others after the fact. I don’t know how much he had his wits about him in the end and worry he wondered why I didn’t come see him when he was in the hospital! Sorry, today’s comic is a feel good 1, nice to see Earl and Nelson’s lovely relationship!

I’m sorry. My Grandfather died 45 years ago, and there’s not a day that i don’t think about him. Your situation sounds like my late wife’s family. After we got married (they were not at the wedding), all they said was it wouldn’t last. Well, we got 47 years together and her brother and sister have been married and divorced 3 times each. You’ve got to live your own life and not worry about pleasing others. If your grandad was anything like mine, I’m positive he had nothing but good thoughts about you and most likely understood the situation you were in.

My Grandpa died when I was 5. He was a cobbler in Washington,D.C. I was able to be with him a couple of times in that short period of time. Went to work with him once and watched him make and repair shoes. He was such a sweet and good person. Never got mad or at least showed it.

Speaking as a grandpa, my hands have done everything that Earl’s hands have done, and are in the same condition, and I’m quite proud of that fact. Same with my dad. We both had office jobs all our lives, but the rough hands were earned from doing things that needed to be done in the service of our families.
