If it happened, it had to be in San Francisco.

So, why can’t a non-citizen be on the Election Commission? Non-citizens are legally allowed to vote in local elections, as they should be. They pay taxes and are impacted by local issues.

This runs in the category of “show me you’re a xenophobic nationalist without using those words.”

WHY should non-citizens be allowed to vote in ANY US elections?

Russian Fern tries so hard to please his glorious leader and expound on the greatness of Mother Russia. But unfortunately a Potatoe is still just a Potatoe. The fewer responses he gets, the fewer potatoes he can turn into more Vodka to keep him motivated.

I don’t like it, but some Democrats do. Why? I suspect evil intent and not for humanitarian reasons as some claim. But here are some facts from Teacher Al:

“In the early years of the American republic, virtually every state-granted suffrage (the right to vote) either to residents who intended to become U.S. citizens, or to everyone, regardless of their citizenship status. (Only if they were adult males, of course; women weren’t granted the right to vote until 1920.). By the turn of the 20th century, however, those more lenient policies gave way to tighter restrictions on noncitizens’ right to vote. The last state to restrict the voting rights of noncitizens was Arkansas, in 1926.” (FindLaw)

“As of June 2023, seven states specified that noncitizens may not vote in state and local elections: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, North Dakota, and Ohio.” However, “The District of Columbia and municipalities in three states allowed noncitizens to vote in local elections as of June 2023: California, Maryland, and Vermont.” (Ballotpedia)

“A state appeals court ruled that a New York City law that would allow non-citizens to vote in local elections is unconstitutional — marking a win for the Republican elected officials who sued to block it. (Politico, Feb 21, 2024_

All this noise from people who fervently believe the only legit outcome of an election is for Republicans to win. And those who ignore the fact that the Trumpers want to restrict voting to people who agree with them. These are people who believe, as Putin keeps saying, that actually allowing the people to choose their leaders is messy and what we need to do is convert the US to a “strong-man” autocracy.

I just hope someone does a documentary on the truth about the “paradise” some of these folks think Russia is. Most of the propaganda is dead wrong; most Russians are not pristine Christians, and the only Christianity sanctioned is the Russian Orthodox Church; apparently Evangelicals are frowned upon. And their elections, while seemingly great from a Trump point of view, allow for only one viable candidate.

Knowledge of the law is helpful.“ US public laws says:

“Aliens are authorized to vote for such other purpose under a State constitution or statute or a local ordinance […] conducted independently of voting for a candidate for such Federal offices.”⁴So what does this exactly mean? Do you have to be a citizen to vote or can permanent residents vote too?

Simply put, if the laws of the state or municipality allow for some types of voting by non-US citizens, then you can vote in local elections. The only case in which this wouldn’t apply is if the state election has repercussions at the federal level.

Right now, there are 10 municipalities across the US that allow non-citizen voting in local elections. Nine of these are in Maryland and the other is in California.”

USA needs someone incorruptible to redraw all the boundaries, introduce representation by population in the senate, and straight majority vote for president.

By the way, I can’t find any mention of SF putting a dowser on the Structural Integrity Commission. So I assume Ramirez just made it up because he has nothing real to criticize.

Why is it stupid? She is there to represent the people immigrants who live in SF but don’t have voice in decisions that affect them. She doesn’t have a vote.

Nothing insane that comes out of SF is a surprise anymore, great ‘toon, Mike.

On other important news, the Supreme Court ruled UNANIMOUSLY that Colorado, and thus any other state, does not have the power to remove President Trump from its ballot under the 14th Amendment. I said in these forums when this nonsense first started that only the Congress, not the states, have the authority under the 14th Amendment to do this. Now, that Colorado judge should be impeached for abuse of power and exceeding their authority, same for any other state official who tried this stunt. A judge or any state official should be competent enough to properly interpret the Constitution and its Bill of Rights.

I used to be a Democrat. The Democratic party was taken over by draft dodging antiwar, tree huggers, America haters. They voted for Democrats of like mind that allowed for foreign countries like China to put millions of Americans out of work. Democrats used to be for the blue collar worker. Not anymore. Unions no longer fight for American Jobs but have become a money laundering racket for the Democrats. The Union rank and file are learning That Trump is out to protect their jobs, and bring those jobs home. Trump’s What’s in it for the USA, drill baby drill, and American coal put 100, 000’s of people to work with top wages. What do Democrats do, Green energy that is going nowhere. Regulations that cause business leave, Minimum wage laws that are putting thousands out of work and closing business. Blacks and hispanic are learning the only thing Democrats wanted from them was their votes. They see Democrats are dropping them for the millions of illegals they are letting into the country. Sorry the Democratic party left me, and I am not going to waste my vote on fringe parties with no hope of representing me I vote Republican. If you are looking for a political Darwin Award go ahead and vote Democrat.
