Baldo will regret skipping that step. I use an old trunk lid off a Porsche 914 to practice sanding, painting, even pre wax steps. I still don’t get it right.
I think Baldo jumped way ahead of himself here. I built a hot rod, started when I was 13, finally got it registered and road worthy when I was 17. Worked hard, poured every penny I made into that car. I continued to work on that car for the next 48 years until my arthritis got so bad I could no longer physically work on it and gave it-along with all of my tools-to my 19yo grandson. That was in 2015. He uses it as his daily driver
I got my first car at 15 – a 1941 Chevy coupé with 7,000 original miles on it – for $1 ( to make it a legal sale ). My cousin and I then proceeded to customize it. All my spare time and hard-earned money went into working on that car.
By the time it was streetworthy, with its fiber-glassed fenders and candy apple blue paint, I was 16 and away at school and my cousin was in the Navy.
His sister, unbeknownst to us, had driven the car without anti-freeze and/or oil. I came back to discover she’d cracked the block!
I managed to trade the 1941 street rod – cracked block and all – for a 1954 Morgan Plus 4.

Interesting. He thinks about money and then crosses out the thing that cost’s nothing. This project may very well take forever.

He did not mask the glass/ chrome/interior/overspray neighbors car. Did not wear any protection-respirator/googles/gloves.

Let’s see. He’s worried about money so he does the expensive step of using a paint sprayer and paint. I don’t get it.
