Most dogs pay more attention to odor and sound than most humans do. Humans are mostly “eye beasts”.

Disappointing that there was no follow up strip after Roscoe ate the pie on Saturday. I was looking forward to seeing Earl take the blame.

Roscoe has always been curious about the window on that wall. Whenever he looks out that other dog is there.

When Roscoe notices that the “other dog” is mimicking his every move he grows angry thinking that it’s mocking him. Calm down, boy!

the first time our, now-passed on, husky looked at herself in a mirror and thought it was another pup to play with. until she banged her head against it.

When I first put a mirror in front of the dog, he barked and play bowed. He then approached the mirror as if he was suspicious, sniffed the mirror, then looked behind it. He was never again interested in the mirror.

My kids moved into a new house with windows coming down to the floor and their dog drove them nuts for months barking every time the lighting reflected her back to herself. She did finally adjust to the new reality.

When I adopted my current dog, she was 6. We had a very quick bond and an eventful evening and night. However, I was awakened at 6a by her standing on the bed and growling. I sat up – a little scared – and realized she was growling at her reflection in a mirror. She never did it again. She also never growled again, except in her sleep.
