I think just using cash these days is veering pretty close to pluggerdom.

This is exactly how it is in our household, except it is the female plugger attacking the male’s wallet! The morning of every yard sale, I have to make sure to have plenty of ones & fives in my wallet!

I don’t dig about in my wife’s purse without asking her. To me it would be rude and an invasion of privacy. If I need money, I’ll ask her or go to the bank.

I never take money out of my wife’s wallet (she doesn’t use a purse). I usually have more than she does and when I get below my $20 minimum, I get more from the bank for both of us.

If I need cash (rarely), I can get it at the Winco. The less cash they have in the registers the better.

In my mind, “purse” is short for “personal”, meaning I don’t go in there, ever. I will hand my s.o. her purse to hand me whatever. Also, I carry the cash, she does everything with ApplePay.

Ex told me to look in her purse, ended up dumping it on dining room table. After I got rid of all the cigarette wrappers I found it.

My father in law is a piece of work. He’s a drunk, and not very nice. For birthday and Christmas, he doesn’t shop for a gift for his wife, he gives her money. Which SHE has to go to the bank to get.

My mom always handled the family finances.* She’d give dad an allowance in cash, & he rarely spent it on anything other than to gas up the car. (His biggest splurge that I can remember was on a table saw.)

Mom refused to check anyone’s pockets when she did laundry. She used to say, “If I find money in the laundry, that’s my pay for doing it.” One day she put a pair of dad’s pants thru the wash with his wallet still in the pocket. When she took that load out of the washer, she found over $1500 in cash scattered among the clothes. All us kids thought it was totally unfair that she gathered it all up & gave it back to him!

*My grandma was her family’s money manager too. Grandpa’s coworkers used to razz him mercilessly for turning his entire pay packet over to her, but his response was: “She earns every penny of it!”

She’s the only one that remembers the password to the ATM, but she withdraws extra for her hubby.

This got you in trouble with your Mom when you were a kid. You think this wouldn’t get you in trouble with your wife? It could embarrassing or even dangerous for your wife to discover she was short on cash while out in the world.

Actually, real Pluggers know better than to go into his wife’s purse. Going in a wife’s purse is very dangerous indeed,…..

Works the other way in our house. And not just the spouse, but also the daughter. At least they ask politely for the funds instead of raiding the wallet or the bank account.

I learned, as a teen-ager, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go ‘rummaging around’ in a ladies purse ! ! ! What you find might be embarrassing. Even if my wife said it was ‘OK’ , I did not look for anything in her purse ! ! !
