“Prints on card, victim’s, blood on towel his” had me quite confused, but I get it now. The only blood was the victim’s blood and there was no blood on the suspects. With that and the information in panel 2, Tracy thinks he has it solved, but I’m still rather puzzled.
It’s YOU Stealin’ Sam! Given your sticky fingered approach law, it was only matter of time before you’d (ta-daa) steal a man’s life!"
NEXT WEEK: Smearing himself with many, oh so many, packets of ketchup he’d taken from Wendys without actually buying food, Sam returns as The crimson Sam and unleashes a wave of pathetically annoying an petty ‘master crimes’ on the city with his small army of rabid Smurfs. No ankle is un-kicked! No chair un-tacked.
I civilization DOOMED? (Well, no, but AMC has tentatively picked this up as a summer replacement series)
When the Manager (Skipper) told Tracy that “it got pretty hot” in the locker room, everyone was still in their uniform. Vern died in his uniform. SOOOOOOO, wouldn’t a quick check of the uniforms of the suspects reveal some blood splatter? Or do they shower in their uniforms in Single A Ball to save on laundry costs? Yeah. That’s probably it. Or…Tracy is an idiot…
1-BROWN EYED GIRL: I very carefully checked each suspect in the nude and found no blood on them. TRACY: Weren’t they embarrassed? B.E.G: A little but not as much as I was when Sam came in and told me that THEY should’ve been the naked ones – not me! BA DA BOOM!
2-CROSS EYED GUY: Would you be interested in knowing which player wanted his uniform washed immediately? DT: Huh? Why?
3-DT: Hey Sam – do the Knights ever play DAY games? HAR HAR HAR! GET IT? Uhhh, I’ll be over there (points with index finger) while you work it out.
The delivery guy said he delivered the envelope with the rare card to Demain personally, but still somehow Simpson was able to open it & the card before Demain did. & the crime scene tech didn’t say who’s prints they found on the bat. Tune in tomorrow for another episode of As The Baseball Turns.
I may be wrong, but I think the original Minute Mysteries had clues so that readers could make Holmes-like guesses as to the outcome. The ones over the past few years have been rather pointless dramas that wrap with a surprise ending that no one would have or COULD have guessed. This one had a good premise, but offered what appears to be a set of clues that add nothing to the story. I’m hoping that I’m wrong and that the conclusion offers an explanation of clues that I missed, but recent history doesn’t offer much promise.
As we wrap up, I thought I’d spill a few baseball homages:1) The coach is Wilford Brimley from The Natural.2) Watt and Nichevo is loosely based on Abbott and Costello.3) Vernon Simpson is based on Ray Milland from It Happens Every Spring. How many did you catch?
Washed clean of the blood splatter that would prove his guilt? —That would be the only one of our four suspects who took a second shower, namely, Phil Demain (see strip of 6 September; others may have been in sauna or whirlpool earlier, but only Demain was just drying off and grooming when questioned by Tracy); further, per the Towel Boy, “Mr. Demain hadn’t opened the envelope when everyone scattered.” BUT the card was found with blood splatter on it, the victim’s blood. That means the envelope was opened in the presence of only two people, victim Vernon Simpson, and murderer Phil Demain!

All four of them held the guy down and beat the stuffing out of him, then had a nice gang shower.

Maybe he stopped by TG&Y and bought a Six Finger toy? Or does he moonlight as a butcher with sensitive scales?

No blood found on any of the suspects: maybe it wasn’t one of the “suspects”.
I’m going to suspect Hoo’s girl. If she can declare “He is innocent”, then she knows something. And she probably was not checked for blood.
