I could have gone further in business if I had just “applied myself harder.” I didn’t want to.
I am not a “Bible thumper,” so if any of it had stuck, it must have made an impression on me: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but lose his soul?”
Another way of looking at this question is, “What are you willing to give up to save yourself?” Fortune, prestige and rank quickly made that list.
I didn’t lose the “Rat Race;” I never showed up at the starting line.
After that cheery little tid bit to start the morning… let The Count say The Count goes to bed every night thankful for working from home. The Count is sure many people agree with The Count.
My daughter was a bit Calvines-que in terms of her intelligence and mischievousness. There were times when she was a real challenge, but raising her was really a blast and I’m grateful to have her.
When our kids were young, my husband always had a big smile on his face Monday morning as he was leaving for work. And our kids were much better behaved than Calvin. I think most parents of young kids look forward to going to work.
What a nice father. Your kid walks by, smiles and waves, and you feel the need to flee. Give him another bowl of Chocolate Covered Sugar Bombs and wonder why acts up sometimes.
alternativly, this could be him being motivated to work so his kid can do well in life, could also be he doesn’t want to be exposed to the radioactive ball of chaos that is calvin for too long.

Calvin doesn’t appreciate what a great motivator he is for his father’s success.

It’s sad that being somewhere else makes people happier than being at home. I was actually one of those people.

Don’t sorry, Calvin, you’ll figure it out when you’re older.

I don’t recall anybody on their deathbed wishing they spent more time with their kids either.

I wonder… How much money does someone like Calvin’s dad make?

Calvin lives in his own world. It’s okay, they know him there.

Do Calvin’s parents even like him? Not much evidence.

Mom both loves and tolerates him. Dad just tolerates most of the time.

I initially misread the opening line. It would have been easier to parse if Calvin’s father had added the word “who”.

Not fair dad. Calvin is the reason for many to skip office and do comics.
